Better sound and edge on 997:2 3,8
 

Anyone has experience from this? Im on porsche std.exhaust at the moment but looking for something better both sound and edge..And not willing to spend crazy money on it.https://www.design911.co.uk/mobile/#part;id=127108

I'd start with a set of cross pipes (the rear muffler delete) from the likes of SharkWerks or Hayward & Scott. Adds a bit of noise, doesn't affect PSE (if installed) and inexpensive compared to a full replacement.

Im not on PSE, had that on my former Gen1 and this is just boring. cross pipe is the first to go with?

I'd start with Fisters and then go to the cross pipe of you feel the need.

OK, what gives louder sound of them? Budget angle? I do not have PSE today. 1:st owner of the car was a 80 year old gentleman who thought it was tool loud, very funny actually.

+1 on the Fister. You can trade your used mufflers or just buy the new ones.

This is the best first change before cross-over pipe which will have minimal impact without side muffler modification. I am assuming you do not have sport exhaust.

Cross pipe won't do much for you on a non-PSE car. Like others have said - start with Fister or Gundo, but I'd just get the bypass while you are it (you will only have to do the install once).

No PSE, Im in Europe, Fister will cost "($+shipping*1,10)*1,25"= ready for installation so maybe Gundo first or this to et a complete kit.
Any experience anyone?

Agreed - I did Sharkwerks crossover first and it didn't do much. I think there is general consensus on this, but I was paranoid about it being too loud.
So now I'm doing the Fisters. Should have either done the Fisters first or both at once to save money on two installs :(
(I also had standard non-PSE exhaust).

I don't have personal experience, but the 911uk.com guys can offer plenty of feedback. But overall the ability to turn it on/off is very nice to have. Depends on what you want.

Having said all that, the Fister / Gundo option as mentioned by Wayne and others is by far the cheapest option.

Appreciate the input. I came to the conclusion Gundo would be step one then but then found this from the UK

Regarding the Fister option and those that have done it. Would you recommend the Ceramic Coating option?

I went that way because it's a short distance between muffler and out the rear. Any heat that stays in the can goes out the back rather than into the engine bay.

Well, honestly, the real reason I went that way was because he had a coated set in stock that I could swap out without delay. Dropped mine off, picked the new ones up, went home and installed them.

Does the coating matter? Compared with a near twin car during drives, I can't tell a difference with bay temperatures when we stop. But they are pretty!!!

Yes, the coating does look extremely nice.
