I believe they are attempting to get as close as possible to full disclosure with all the pictures, videos, public comments etc. I actually really like that. It's the closest thing to going in person to actually see the car and test drive it. No other site really does that.

…. I think most bidders on BAT depends solely on detailed photos, documents, videos and questions without a PPI. Most sellers are willing to show you or have a PPI done within that 7 day auction period. Once you win the bid, you are obligated to pay the amount and there are no PPI agreement done after the auction is over. This was what I was told. Now you can see why BAT requires a lot of photos, video etc.

For the ~$132K original sticker, got to wonder why the original buyer didn't take that extra ~$30K for pts/powerkit/leather/PCM/Bose/power seats, etc, put up another few bucks (really minimal) and just buy a Turbo.
In 2007, Turbo coupe base was $123K, Cab $133K (and included full leather, Nav. PCM, Bose, power seats, etc. and obviated the need for powerkit ) Turbo enjoyment upgrade? Priceless.
But on to the auction... My guess:$45,500

------
Color looks to me like Polar Silver... Nice enough, but cobalt blue, midnight blue, GT Silver, Atlas Gray, Slate Gray were all standard colors on the Turbo in 2007, any of which I'd take in a second over Polar.

Wonder how this comment will effect the auction?

This car was previously on Auto trader and located in San Diego. I drove it and purchased a PPI from the dealer. Significant issues.
---->Seller has replied but refuses to list the issues/repairs that he supposedly had done at dealership
I'm in at $46,000

Cabs are more expensive brand new from the dealer than a coupe. Yet the coupes are the more desirable and has higher value than the cab in the used market.. Cabs are just not that popular where I live and I find TONS of nice condition ones with great specs for super low price. Unfortunately they are not my cup of tea.

This Sea Blue looks to be a bit lighter and to me, doesn't look as nice as Metropol Blue.

driving video
I appreciate sellers posting driving videos. My complaint is the drivers. It seems like almost without fail they hang onto the gearshift as if life depended on it. The driver's hand on the shifter is giving input to the transmission that isn't wanted or required and will eventually cause wear and damage. Two hands on the wheel, change gears, and back to the wheel. If the driver is the seller it would give me second thoughts about buying the car.

If I'm trying to sale a car I'd have two hundred pics and a video or two stored and ready to email an interested buyer at the drop of a hat.

For $250 more you can even have a professional photographer come to you:

If you don't already have a good camera/skills and are just selling one car, this might make sense. I really appreciate well-photographed cars, especially seeing the undercarriage of all sorts and eras of vehicles. Transverse coil springs on rear suspension of old Mercedes, etc.

And so much is being made of the importance of pictures of the underside of the car at BAT. All good but how do you know that the underside picture is that of the car being sold without a third independent party verifying?
Just my take but all said, will there ever be a dealership, online outfit or an individual (other than a close friend, family member or relative) so trustworthy that spending a lousy $300 on a PPI on a $50K or $100K car purchase will be seen as a waste of money?

Why is that? No matter how many pictures and words about the condition of the car, it's still the evaluation of the car composed by the seller. So why should anyone buy a BAT car for perhaps $100,000 or more without a PPI when most wouldn't even get near the thought of buying a $100,000 car on Ebay, Autotrader, Car Gurus or elsewhere without a PPI? Is the idea that BAT sellers are so 100% honest about pictures and descriptions that a third party inspection is deemed a waste of money? When Porsche dealerships CPO's cars that have no business being certified but should be sold poor wholesale instead, why do people buy the same cars on BAT without a PPI? Because of the volume of pictures supplied by the seller?

I do think the format works - sort of like a group ppi / wiki, in that if the seller wants top dollar, he must respond to all of the questions and disclose as much as possible. This is a form of ppi. If buyers get a hint of an issue, then all bets are off (usually). Either the value drops or it becomes a RNM (reserve not met). The current car we are playing with here may indeed suffer from this. If I were allowed, I'd drop my "bid" by a few grand based on the comment posted there. Also, a ppi does not always show everything either. In an ideal world, I put my own eyes on a car before buying. That said, I have bought multiple cars sight unseen, with eyes on by fellow rennlisters, or no eyes at all. Sometimes you get burned. It's only money
