I'm not surprised to see that. In my former FBO 997 turbo, it would record range 3s hitting the limiter in 3rd gear. I never intentionally tried it in 1st gear, but I wouldn't be surprised if it hit range 4 or even 5. The limiter comes really quick in first gear of a modded 997 turbo

IIRC, those cars don’t even register an event if you hit the rev limiter. Might be mistaken, but thought I saw that in a video on the topic.

By "your former FBO 997 Turbo" you mean my current FBO 997 TT🤗! I think I hit the limiter in neutral (assuming that should be possibe). Was reaching up to grab a parking ticket in a garage and accidently extended my foot, flooring the gas pedal.

This auction just finished. Pretty exciting. I watched the last 20 minutes during lunch. Started the morning around $43k and finished at $59k. I thought it might just reach $60k. Quite the premium for a 997.1. A lot of time extensions from bids sub 2 minutes.

Yes, that was my point, but in re-reading my posts, I see I didn't articulate it fully. 997 GT3s have a 600rpm buffer above redline before any range 1 over revs are even registered. DME over-rev reports are a major talking/negotiation point for manual transmission water cooled Porsches, but there is a lot of misunderstanding as to how to read/interpret them. Many people think that if a car as any over-revs it has been "money shifted" or tracked, but that just isn't true. A GT3 could spend thousands of miles on track banging the rev limiter and show no over-revs. On the other hand a Turbo could hit the limiter hard once or twice in 1st gear and have a DME littered with over-revs all the way through range 4. Yet most would look at the 2 DME reports and surmise the Turbo had a "harder" life than the GT3. I realize the 997 GT3 and 997 Turbo engines are different, but they both Mezgers with similar architecture. If Porsche is unconcerned to the point of not recording events up to 9000 rpm (600 rpm over it's 8400 rpm rev limit) on the GT3, I am unconcerned with a few excursions to 7400 rpm (600 rpm over its 6800 rpm rev limit) on a 997 Turbo
