"FISTER FD" And an important question about Mufflers & Catalytic converters
I recently installed a "FISTER D" exhaust. The result is amazing, the sound amazing! But, during the installation we discovered that there are bits of soot and catalytic converter in Mufflers and also in the catalytic converters. When you shake them you hear noise.
(carrera s 2005 with original exhaust system).
what should I do?
Could this damage the engine?
Could it cause any damage?
Is this a reasonable wear and tear?
I'd love to know that everything is fine.
Thanks in advance

I will note that in terms of the flow of air and power it seems and feels that everything flows smoothly. I did not have a warning light.

Probably most of us particles crumble in mufflers and catalytic converters.
I really like the sound of the "FD" and so it was important to me to know that nothing irreversible can be caused ..

When I received my Fisters they too had a rattle. I emailed Fister (Daryl or Darren?) and he said it was normal. It's a product of the welding (slag, soot, or whatever) and to go ahead and install them and it should blast out with use. I've never removed the new mufflers to see if the rattling has been eliminated though...maybe I should now that I've run them for several thousand miles..

Wear of the original converter..

Perfect opportunity to upgrade to a 200 cell X-cat. Those bits of broken cat wraps are going to travel into the mufflers and clog them up.

You shouldn't get a CEL as that is the primary function of the catalytic converters. The HJS 200 cell cats do that job quite well! The condition of the o2 sensors plays a factor as well - condition and age. There is always the slight chance that you will get a CEL, and some ways to alleviate that are again, checking the o2 sensors, and alternatively o2 spacers may work, and a tune is a great way to disable the CEL while adding extra power.
