Interesting to see that bore scoring is affecting even newer 9A1 engines. Looking forward to Raby's series on bore scoring.

The question I have is why did it score ... We know as Jake's vids explain why this happens in a M97 but why in a 9A1

Well, it will be interesting to see what Jake reveals on the 9A1 platform. I'm taking all preventative steps on my M96... why? Cause I really like my car and want to keep it for a very long time. I'm not "taking my chances" or "rollin' the dice", I'm listening to these people and replacing parts BEFORE they show their asses. Cheers people!

Welp, there goes the 997.2 9A1 DFI engines are better then the 997.1 engines excuse. So the smoking gun theory with the bad fuel injectors might be the culprit.

A new video series will be produced over the coming winter that focuses on the bore scoring of the 9a1 engines. Very little info found in the current M9X video series can be crossed over to the 9a1 scoring scenarios. The owner of a 9a1 powered car shouldn't even watch the M9X series IMHO.

This is really asking a lot, but could you give an opinion about bore scoring probability for a 997.2 turbo motor and a 991.2 motor (both 3.0 and 3.8 turbo models). I sold my 997.2 because I didn't want to face the possibility of bore scoring. But, I would like to buy a model where it isn't something to worry about.

In that case, buy an aircooled Porsche

Is warmup the same though? I’ve religiously followed the warmup procedure you describe for the 997.1 and I drive it almost immediately after starting it.

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't sound promising.

Wow, really? Im no expert, but I don't think it is all that common, or if it is, there must be some big cover up. In fact, even the IMS situation in the M9X engine, in my opinion, has been vastly overemphasized. And this comes from someone that just had the IMS Solution installed (mine is an early 2005, but if I had a 2006+, I wouldnt have bothered)

It doesn't seem to be terribly common failure mode. There aren't a lot of 997.2 around. They hit the market right as the economy was melting down and the 991 came around when things were just starting to pick up. Sales volumes of the 997.2 were quite low as a result of the world-wide recession that hit in 2008 and ran to about 2013.
