Winter mode is. OEM C4S rims, Nokian Winter tyres, no spikes. Its allowed in Sweden but I went to try without. It works awesome! Down side when it as snowed 20-30 cm.
Then the car starts to float on the snow if the front wing does not work well enough as a plow .
Fully loaded with all stuff needed for the weekend, 3 sets of alpine skis and 3 sets of cross country skis, me and 2 kids in the car. (wife on ski camp) Really, really fun. The car still runs perfect and I still need to take back that a low mileage car with many owners are better than a high mileage car with a single owner

Questions about the Nokians...... why did you choose them over the Michelin Alpins? Price difference Nokian to Michelin? Sidewall stiffness, noise.... Etc. etc.... I am always interested in snow tires.

To be honest this set I got from a fellow Porsche friend for basically nothing because he sold his car. But, my humble own opinion is that Nokian suits me better in the Nordic region, more snow less wet tarmac.

Just snow tires at the moment, I have actually looked into chains but not decided and found anything yet, and, I have never seen chains on 295 tires

Nokian Hakkas were the best winter tires I used in all my BMW's (6 of them)
I tried to find them in the appropriate size for the P cars but they only came
studded, thus illegal in my state (NJ). For me, the next best were the Bridgestone
Blizzaks, very good in all kinds of snow and ice but noisy and loose traction after about 3
years. My current Sotto Zeros are ok and that is it; not really confidence inspiring in a mere
2 in. of snow. They are very good in the dry, not noisy and are comfortable. I think they could be
a year around tire and a perfect solution for cash strapped owners in the snow belt instead of
all-seasons.

Thanks, I bought this car really without a thought I would. I had just sold my Gen 1 4S that was THE CAR for me. Then this came around and I could not say no and figured I would make it some kind of experiment experience.

I'm a big fan of my 4S and Nokian Hakkapeliitta tyres for winter. I've tried various Michelin (not good), and Continentals (pretty good) over the years on my cars, and I've also driven on any number of budget and/or 'continental Europe' high-speed rated winter tyres on rental cars in the Alps, but the Nokians have been consistently the best.

I wasn't even aware nokians were available in 911 sizes for 19" rims. Which nokian tire are you using? Would love to ditch these crappy sottozeros...

I run Nokians on my Audi SQ5 and they're great in snow. I've got Michelin Latitude Alpin PA4s on my 911, and they're not bad in snow.

I just finished clearing 8-inches of snow off my driveway. This has been a snowy winter in the Rocky Mountains.

Fantastic! I've been up to my ski hill once in my Turbo on summer tires and it did great. The road is plowed so I knew there would be no issue but it held very well on summer tires (Continentals). Only encountered one dicey spot in the parking lot where it was pretty much a sheet of ice. Thanks for sharing

They don't come in our sizes. Neither does the Alpins from Michelin. Hence the "crappy Sottozeros".

I have used Blizzaks on a variety of cars for about 20 years. They are great in the snow but the tread squirms a little on the freeways around here. As has been mentioned, they don't have a long life, 3-4 years is about the limit, depending on how much you drive.
