Hood / bumper respray, worth it?
My 911 is 9 years old and is black. It has a front bumper that you would expect of a 9 year old car with no paint protection film, needless to say not in "show" condition. With a good polish and wax it looks great until you get within short distances. As spring is coming, I'm considering getting it resprayed. If I were to get the bumper resprayed, I would probably do the hood too as the leading edge has wear typical of the cars age as well.
I believe to do the hood and bumper would cost $1-2k. I don't have any misconception that it would add to the value, so it would be for my personal enjoyment only. I also realize if I got it resprayed I would likely need to have film applied or I'm probably just throwing money away. I figure if I do that, I'm into it at least 2500-4000... and am thinking it's not worth it for a 9 year old car.
I've also considered trying the Dr Colorchip paint chip repair for some of the small chips mainly on the leading edge of the hood, but that wouldnt necessarily help the bumper.
Worth it to respray or just enjoy it as is?

How long do you intend on keeping it?
If less than a couple years, just dr colorchip it. No sense in shoring it up for the next guy to enjoy.
if it’s a long term car, just paint it. It’ll bug you every month that goes by without getting it fixed properly.

I would agree with that sentiment. Although, I have a friend who is a retired car painter (you should see his 69 Torino GT) and he is respraying my whole front end for 1100 bucks. That's about the only thing that I haven't liked about the car. He's finished the hood and bumper, and the way they look is already changing my disposition. I think it's worth it...

A good shop would charge at least $2500-$3000 for proper strip and repaint
They look so nice re-sprayed and I'd suggest clear bra after paint has had plenty of time to dry - Maybe 6 months of careful driving not to add any rock chips and letting it bake in sun before it's applied. *If clear-bra is ever removed it will have less chance of pulling up the new paint.
Clear-bra is done so well these days that you can't tell it has been applied and it doesn't discolor
My 2007 997C4S was clear-bra'd 10 years ago and still looks new with no rock abrasions or any sort of imperfections - All seams on edges of truck and fenders/bumpers and all hidden

I had my bumper resprayed and it made all the difference. It was in great shape before as silver doesn't age nearly as bad as black. But after resprayed it looks like a new car.

If you'll put another 15-20k on it and/or 3-4 years then respray and wrap. If they bake the paint and it's not your DD. Let them store it for a week before the wrap and after the bake. You'll be good for a decade or more after that. Touch up and wrap the fenders while you're at it. They'll chip around the leading edges too. I'll do my 997 eventually but I just did this to an (albeit older) E46 M3 and it looks brands new.

If you like your car, enjoy it and will keep it for a while, then do it.
You will be pleased with the results and wonder why it took you
so long to do it.

As others have said, how long do you plan on keeping it? If you may decide to sell it anytime soon I wouldn't do it. I mentioned the rear ending of my car here which resulted in a replaced rear bumper and a replaced Sharkwerks bypass set. No other damage. Still, some experts here basically talked down the value of my car to some kind of wholesale subject that belonged in an auction lot. Never mind the fact that a licensed auto appraiser after inspecting the car would state in writing for $250 that the repairs were undetectable and that bumpers....front or rear along with exhaust parts are considered "bolt on items" that are not part of the car's structure and therefore, replacement or first rate refurbishment/repair of those items do not reduce the value of the car. If you plan on keeping it though, go for it but invest in a clear bra while you're at it. Can't be applied right after the paint job though. A good shop will know how long between paint and clear bra application.
By the way, someone quoted $2,500 - $3,000 for a properly done resprayed bumper. Sounds very high based on what I've been through over the years.

I would do a respray if it bothers you. The total cost should be about $1800-2500. Then add the cost of a clear bra for about $1200-1500. You can hit a total of $4000 easily.
Maybe you can convince yourself that having a "patina" is good thing and just enjoy driving it.

That’s exactly what I had done to my car. The bumper cover looks great after the new paint job, and the chips in my hood have been touched up and look fine. I’m really happy that I decided to get the bumper repainted.

After looking at the photos you could make it look 100% better by touching up the chips - Black is the easiest paint to match and you could even hire an experienced shop to do it for a few hundred $$$
