Steering Wheel Upgrade question
Hello all, I am replacing the sport wheel on my 997.2 C4S with the sport design wheel. However, my sport wheel is heated and the new one is not. Is there a line to be capped off or is the heat controlled from one of the connectors tied into the air bag? I intend to follow the excellent instructions from this site for the swap, but do not see this issue addressed.
thanks. |
I replaced my 997.2 multifunction steering wheel (with heating) with a sport design wheel (no heating) and didn't make any changes. There was nothing to be capped off.

excellent, thank you for the reply

Yea same here. I had heated, I just didn't connect it, and all is good. Great modern looking upgrade.

there is a socket on the column that the lead from the wheel plugs into. you may or may not have a lead on the new wheel. If there is a lead and plug, it would be a blank. Just make sure whatever you are plugging into that there is nothing to make electrical connections

I hope it’s a blank, not sure how to tell, see pic below

Did the same on my Cayenne when going from the leather wheel to the wood wheel (wood wheels aren't heated). Nothing to do and no error codes on the dash. If you scan with a Durametric, you'll see an implausible signal message or something related to the heated wheel circuit, but no big deal.

much obliged, thanks
