Front(radiator)fans running constantly

2005 Carrera 997.1. Radiator fans(I assume) are running constantly. Temp gauge at 175. Have never noticed these fans running before. Anything to be concerned about? Tx!

Are you sure it is both fans that are running? I had the same thing happen when the left fan locked up. Right fan ran constantly to compensate.

Can't say about single fan. Sounds appear symmetrical and blow out at the wheel wells appear equal. Would expect quite different blow out if only a single fan was operational. By the way A/C is off!

Then my guess would be a thermostat or relay of some sort. Triggering fans to think they need to run when car is actually cool. I'm beyond my expertise, though.

I got the same problem, 2005 C2S. The driver side fan is not working and the passenger side is almost always on, even when coasting downhill in the evening. Is this a common issue for the fans to seize or stop working?

Any codes?

jstdenis 01-23-2019 07:53 AM

No Codes here!

yvesvidal 01-23-2019 09:59 AM

Do you have the A/C on?

A/C Off!!

Only on a track day when it's hot outside.

I had mine turn on full blast after a car wash last weekend, would not turn off. Then next drive, nothing?

I had never felt them come on but it seemed really strong, even though the car was stone cold.

I would connect a Durametric and try to activate each fan independently. Make sure they turn OFF as well.
Then perhaps, reset the module in charge of the Fans control.

That is the next step. I haven't had a chance to check for codes yet. Also this happens with AC on or off. Does not matter.
Thanks for the great guidance so far guys!

Check the sensors on the ac lines in back (or front where ever they are). If one has come unclipped your car may be thinking the AC system is too hot and will default the fans to max.
