(High?) quality of 997 OEM parts

While working on the 997 (cleaning or taking stuff apart), I noticed that many of the OEM parts are made by what I (maybe naively) perceive as high quality manufacturers.
I noticed the brake calipers say Brembo, the rims are made by Ronal and the PSE exhaust tips have an Eisenmann stamp.

I guess this (partially) explains the purchase price of these cars.

Or do all German car producers rely on these suppliers?
And if so, are they all more or less the same off-the-shelf parts or is there a difference in quality between the parts supplied to Porsche and those supplied to BMW / Mercedes / etc.?

Who can shed some light on this? :)

Just to add: I understand that TRW is the OEM for at least some of the suspension control arms. Which is why I buy their label when replacing certain parts rather than paying more than twice the money for the same part that comes in a box that says "genuine Porsche" on it.

This isn't just in the automotive sector, but everywhere. I'd be highly surprised if you cracked open an iPhone and not find something made from Samsung.
Just because company claims to be a manufacturer, in reality most are assembling a bill of materials made by others.

Car manufactures almost always make the body-in-white There are exceptions as the Cayenne was originally produced at the VW plant in Slovakia that produced the Touareg as well ( even Before VW took over Porsche). Most of the time the car manufacturer make the engine as well but not always. Transmissions are only sometimes made by the car company. If you have a 6 speed manual, your transmission was produced by Aisin which is owned by Toyota. The 8HP 8 speed trans found in the Audi A6 and the BMW 5 series are the same and come from the same manufacturer, ZF. The early Boxsters were largely produced by Valmet, the Finnish weapons manufacturer. The Porsche 924 and 944 were made by Audi for Porsche. Magna produces cars for different manufacturers under contract. Things like braking systems., turbos, fuel systems, all electronics, suspension pieces, bushings, glass, seats, and on and on, are produced by global suppliers who focus on these things. The wonderful seats in 911 and the traditionally crappy seats found in the Corvette are made by the same company. Each of those suppliers will make anything the OEM wants at an agreed price. The quality can be at any level the OEM chooses for that model. Generally, there are one or two suppliers approved for smaller items, one supplier for major items.

If you want the highest quality, you source your parts from specialist. Extremely rarely can you find a supplier that can do it all.

So the Porsche tax definitely exists...
It's like the Porsche charge-o-mat which is actually a CTEK costing half as much in non-rebranded form

Porsche has been one of the most profitable car companies in the world. They and Audi generate most of the profit for the VW group.

Several years ago I was flying an MBB BK117 helicopter (made in Germany). During my first preflight I noticed several parts made by Bosch, the oil coolers made by Behr and the Tail Rotor gear box made by ZF.

If you want the next years Iphone, buy todays Samsung hahah. No kidding. Lots of the iphone components are made my Samsung.

OP Autohouze AZ and I think Pelican Parts clearly mark on their websites OE (Porsche Part) or OEM (Porsche approved supplier). Same thing but one part is cheaper and it doesnt come in a white box with Porsche stamped on it. My old Lotus had tail lights from Toyota, Diablo 6.0 headlights from a Nissan 300ZX and most of the fuel system on my Testarossa is Bosch K Jet(?) tronic. At one time I had a Mercedes 190 16V that I was restoring. Not kidding, more than once I would 'borrow' parts from the Testarossa to troubleshoot the Mercedes.

If you stick to OEM from a trusted Euro dealer, the parts you get will work out fine. Get the correct part without the Tiffany box.

I thought that was the case some 5 years ago, but that nowadays Ferrari is topping the charts.

The lower volumes of Porsche parts probably also contribute to the higher prices (meaning, less parts to spread the cost of the $500,000 tool required to mold that particular part)
