I doubt anyone would deceptively badge as a Base 4. Why wouldn't they just go for a fake S badge.
BTW, the Widebody is only like 1/2 inch per side or so.
Steph, if the camera angle was a little lower you would see the unmistakable big’ol A$$ of the Carrera 4 on this car. The under pan covers the front diff and drive shaft so you won’t see them by looking under the car. If you turn the steering wheel to full lock and peek in the gap at the front wheel arch, you will just see the half shaft that runs from the diff to the front wheel hub on a Carrera 4.
Yes, that's a widebody. See the lip at the outer edge of the tailights and also see how the rear fenders are almost completely flat on top at one spot. Compare the 2 cars in that comparison post a few further down and you'll notice the tops of the rear fenders on the 2S car have a continuous curve whereas the 4S car gets almost flat in that one spot. The pic of the cab is taken slightly too high to make this obvious, but it's there, and the cut lines for the cab tonneau cover make it harder to pick up on.
Thanks guys, just came back from seeing the car. It is definitely a widebody. Darn the rear-end sure is sexy, with those meety 305/30 tires.
Guy (very nice guy btw) was back from Miami and I called him last night to arrange to go see the car today. So I drive 2 hours there, to end-up just seeing the car and sit in it..Period!!!! He disconnected the battery before he left on vacation in early december and now didn't know how to open the hood or trunk, we couldn't reconmect the battery for me to try and make sure everything electrical worked properly.
So drove 2 hours back, frustrated that I basically lost my day. So I am pissed. If I would have known the car was stored with the battery disconnected and it couldn't be started nor anything checked, I would have done something else with my day.
But it is a genuine super sexy wide bodied Carrera 4.
As a total rookie ( I don't even have my car yet ), I may be off base here, but I have been going through the downloaded owners manual for the last couple of hours as I'm watching the NFL playoff games. I just read a section that tells you how to open the trunk when you have no battery power. You use a jumper cable on the fuse box, and then use the remote on the key. Sounds like this would have allowed you to get access to the battery to reconnect it.
IMO this thread highlights how overrated the widebody thing is on the 997. On the 964 or earlier 911’s I agree it makes a huge difference, on the 997 not one bit.
