Just venting sorry. My beloved base manual 08 997.1 CS ended up total loss. Someone hit the gate it was behind and it got smashed pretty bad from the back. I'm totally bummed
I'm looking for a replacement 997.2/991 pdk but it's so hard to find, not much available at this level. all I got back from insurance is 40k can go up to lower 50s for a black/silver any suggestions much appreciated I'm in Los Angeles Ca

They quoted over 25k damages before actually opening the car but it would probably get worse the engine block got cracked and the bottom got all scraped up from the concrete slab

That's what I was thinking at first too upgrade to 997.2 but it's been since Thanksgiving and so far nothing good available less than 65k

They are low balling you at $40k. Comps within a 200 mile radius of you are $44k with 60,000 miles and $56,500 with 12,000 miles (2008 Carrera S coupe. Not sure what your mileage was but those are the comps. If you expand the search nationwide, $46k seems to be the average. Im assuming you are working with the jerks insurance company? If so, show them the comps, all your service records and give them 30 days to come up to an amount that will make you whole again. Also let them you know that you have already contacted the California Department of Insurance and will be filing a claim of bad faith if they do not play by the rules. You are also entitled to a like type rental car.

Thank you mine had 72k miles had new tires and clutch just last year even though it was base s it was black on black like I like it. I've been back and forth with them (metromile) they started me at 37k we are now at 40k but that's only for the condition evaluation made them change it all from avarage to excellent but I will go back to them with the comps.

I have seen several 2006-2008 997.2 C2S models (manual of course) listed here with under 50k miles for anywhere from 37-44k. 44 grand seems really high for a 60k mile 997.1. I paid $45,500 spring of 2017 for my 31k mile manual 997.2 C4. Then again, I am not in high-rent CA. The OP likely could not have sold nor traded in the car for more than $40k around here, and I am sure he can get a replacement for about what he paid.

Here is a very clean C4S for $42,500 with some nice upgrades (exhaust, wheels, GT3 bumper, turbo wing). The seller would likely be asking $40k or less if it was stock.

In addition to providing your own comps, ask them for the details of the specific recently sold cars that were included in their valuation. I would also ask for an extended rental while this is sorted out (both to have the car itself and to apply some financial pressure for a faster resolution).

Do not stop until you feel you've received full value. I once spent ~3 months arguing over a totaled 2002 Corvette Z06 before they made an acceptable offer.

I assume they are giving you a rental car during this negotiation process? If not insist on one.
If your insurance company gives you a hard time with the fair market value after several attempts at negotiating, I find the mention of hiring your friend a Lawyer to settle up always seems to get some good results.

From that photo I wonder why they totaled it... and with the high number of Custom Car Shops in your area, I would bet you could get that fixed for about $10K, if you sourced your replacements as used parts.

Yeah, my thoughts were looking into buying it back.

There have been a number of threads here detailing how a minor rear end totals the car. Its how the car is designed to crumble internally around the engine rails that is super costly to repair. Tolerances back there are super tight, same thing with the 991's. Im gonna assume its the same story with 996's but dont follow 996 threads. Plus, it was shoved hard enough to launch it over the curb (possible front end damage) and most defiantly damage along the underside.
