Default Thoughts on this 997.1

Good day,

I'm in the market for a 997. I would prefer a 997.2, but my requirements are fairly specific and the cost of lower mileage 2009+ cars can be high. This will be a DD for me, and I want:

Coupe
C2 or C2S
6 speed
Silver, white or some variation of gray
I don't care about options
A car that has lived in a mild climate

I found this car on cargurus in FL. I live in AZ, and any car purchased more than 1000 miles away would be shipped meaning that I'd be relying on a PPI. Any thoughts on this car? Two things for me - one is it was sold at auction according to Carfax (may not mean anything), and the 2nd thing is that it's a Florida car meaning that it could have been subject to water damage at some point. Would that show up on Carfax??

Thoughts?? Thanks everyone

A flood car would only show up on Carfax if there was an insurance payout. Since you ran a Carfax did it live its whole life in Fl? Rust would be a concern that will show up on a PPI. With that said, I would instruct the mechanic to do a paint meter check along with his normal punch list and a bore scope just for the warm fuzzies. I believe the interior color is Metropole Blue, nice color combo IMHO.

The car has some things going for it....6 speed, low miles, looks really clean, blue interior (thats a personal opinion). I also share your concern about why did a car this clean go to auction? But if it passes a PPI, who cares.

Looks pretty clean if it checks your boxes ok. PPI is a must especially if shipping without seeing. Auction car is a nonissue if checks out otherwise, it happens everywhere. As far as mild climate, I would cast a wider net. A lot of NE and midwest cars hibernate and see no snow or salt and may be pristine underneath, but need usual scrutiny from PPI.

Thanks CaptainBaker. It has lived its entire life in FL. I didn't realize that the interior was blue until you pointed it out. Sadly, that's not my thing. Onto the next...

Here's an '09 in Portland that could fit the bill. Any thoughts on that spoiler? Is that factory? do you think it's removable?

that looks nice. Love the sport wheels too. Winglet is aftermarket, and one I have seen like that was stuck on with double sided tape rather than bolted like bigger ones. Removable usually but small and tasteful anyway. Full leather would be nice, but you said options were not a big deal.

The white one in Portland is nice. The upgraded seats, lights and Carrera sport wheels are nice options for a base car.

Yea....I give the same advice to all members who seek out advice about a potential purchase, dont provide a link for a lurker to swoop the car out from under your feet. Now back on point. The little spoiler is an aftermarket add on usually held on with 3M double sided tape. Seen them since the first 964 with a pop up spoiler. Im a sucker for white 911's, in fact 5 out of the 6 911's Ive owned are white. Price is about $5k for a base 997, but if it checks off all the boxes and no fatal flaws on a PPI...go for it. This is assuming, no red flags on carfax, no stories, no major repaints etc.

Sorry you dont like the blue interior. I have a beige interior but bought Interpol Blue carpets to break up the sea of brown. Plus side is they hide dirt and my stock mats are tucked away in the garage.
