I can understand your concern. I just bought a 20k 08. 4x your potential mileage but I think my concerns were the same as yours. I had the major service done and am super happy thus far. Although it's usage won't change much, being a weekend/track car... if it had all the right options, I have a really good PPI done, maybe preemptive major service, and go for it.

When I began looking for a 997.2S this time around I decided to focus on low miles / one owner. I consulted with my Indy ( 25 year Porsche tech, very sharp guy with a busy shop) about a 2009 with 15,000 miles. He was adamant that I should absolutely not buy such a low mileage 997 because of problems associated with sitting instead of driving. He recommended no fewer than 30,000 miles for a ten year old 911. He told me that another customer had an 09 with 10,000 miles for sale but refused to give me the info because the car was going to be trouble. I ended up with an 09 with 23,000 miles which he said was pushing it but should be ok. Just passing this on FWIW.

But what was the service history of the 15k mile car? At first glance, maybe it's not best, but none of us, including the mechanic had the entire history.

997.1 I wouldn't touch, but I don't think we need to be as afraid about the 997.2s.

I would not be scared of a .1 Get a good PPI, get it properly warmed up and put it through hard runs. If it leaks, knock the price down and get it fixed.

Actually the history was pretty good, but his concern was the state of seals and other internals after sitting for the majority of its life, irrespective of the service history, based on his experience. I'm just offering it as information to consider or not, I'm certainly no expert by any stretch.

That's odd that he would make a blanket statement w/out a PPI. CA cars with those miles wouldn't be an issue since the weather is very stable.
