QUICK JACK BL-5000SLX 5,000-LB fit?
 

Hi everyone:

Will a quick jack portable car lift fit underneath a 997?
It seems like it would be a tight fit.
The rails on the lift are 70" long and it seems like that would be a very tight fit between the tires.
Does anyone have a quick jack?
I would get the 3500# rated one which has shorter rails, but I have other cars to work on that are heavier.

The 5000 SLX lifts a 997. It needs to be positioned just right, though.

I purchased the 5000SLX model QuickJacks because I didn't want to be limited by the 3500# model.

They fit perfectly under my 997 with H&R lowering springs using the short rubber blocks (included with QJ's), and the box they came in actually has a 997 on the box.

If anyone is interested, I called Bend-Pak before purchase and got confirmation that the Hydraulic cylinders as well as the pump are the same as the 7000# model, it's just the framework that is different. Then I found a video of the manufacturer lifting and supporting 26000#'s on the 5000# model using an upgraded pump. So I'm fairly confident the 5000# SLX is capable of lifting and supporting any vehicle I currently, or will in the future, own.

I also use these pads that work great.

The one I saw from the manufacturer was holding 16000#'s on an unmodified BL-5000SLX but not lifting it. They were addressing safety concerns about crawling under the car. I'm sure there are other videos out there.

I have the 7000 SLX and it fits my 997 but is tight - wish I'd bought the 5000 SLX becasue the extra weight of the 7000 is a pain to move around. Thought I needed the extra capacity to lift my wife's ML 350 Benz.

To those with the QJ - has anyone removed their transmission with it? Is there enough clearance to get out the transmission and/or engine?

Thinking I'm going to need to do a clutch at some point, I bought wheel dollies to temporarily support the car. i.e.lift enough to set on dollies (any blocks to support car would work), add blocks, lift again. I think required clearance to drop engine and/or trans is 20". The included blocks, and lifting in 2 steps yields 21" at the lift-points.

Although I could be wrong about the required height, might be only 18", could be 24", too lazy to confirm. I'd confirm before I started the job, but nearly irrelevant. I would just use larger blocks if I needed more height.

This pic is sitting on both rubber blocks, included with 5000SLX QJ's, and lift-pucks (manufactured and sold by RL member SmokinGTS) clearance is 21" at the lift-points.

I would HIGHLY recommend buying direct from QuickJack (which is BendPak). Pelican sold me the wrong one and then gave me a real run-around to make a change. I actually reached out to BendPak and they took care of me. The 5000SLX is what you want for a 997. This is a fantastic product.
