Default Anyone use Rim Protectors??

I saw this come across my facebook and was wondering if anyone has used these or something similar. It looks like a good idea. What is your experience if any?

Yuck! Not to comment about adding mass at the edge and unbalance potential. Bra covered paint, plastic ribbons on wheels, where is this nonsense going to stop? Plastic protected upholstery?

Ha! Made me think of my grandmother's "good company" couch that nobody was allowed to sit in.

Leather bra, yeah totally agree (is that even done anymore?).

Clear bra on the other hand is money well spent. It looks great and protects that front end from all those rock chips. I took a huge stone from a dump truck right to the fender (ok not HUGE but scary big). The clear bra tore slightly but zero damage to the underlying paint. It would definitely have gone through the paint to bare metal without the clear bra installed. Another time took a rock to the driver's a-pillar. Cracked the windshield, small dent on the a-pillar but zero paint damage. PDR out of pocket fixed the dent cheaply and zero deductible glass insurance covered the windshield. Again the clear bra saved my wallet by avoiding a respray. Xpel brand. Highly recommend it!

Getting a set of meaty tires on there can help. I've had one near-miss but was saved due to the tires on the wheel. In general I simply do not park my car next to any curbs.

Don’t feel bad, Cannonball. I like some of those trim rings and have considered trying out a red band on my car. Not really for wheel protection, just aesthetics.

But, if you ask people on the internet if they like something, you have to be prepared for some serious negativity. It’s like trying on a shirt at the store and asking a random person if they like it. Who gives a $hit what a random person likes? Do you like it? If yes, then go for it.

Ive seen a ton of godawful-looking frankenstein modded cars on this forum. Some people gush over them, while I’m looking at the pics and trying not to barf.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If you buy and install the trim rings, just make sure to post pics so we can all see.

Haha thanks Iceter. No feelings are hurt here. Not sure if I am going to get them. From what I have read they seem to be more of a pain. Maybe I'll get those metal spring things that stick out and makes a sound when they scratch the curb. ….not.

Don't our tires have a sidewall protector protruding slightly near the rim? I do see picture of Rennlister wheels that are wider than the tires. Never liked that look, not to mention the added exposure to scratching. .
