997.2 shifter feel
hello all,
everyone has been so helpful here and I wanted to tap the well again if I may.
I have a base 997.2 and was a happy camper blasting around ACH until I drove a 997.2 S and then a 997.2 GT3 RS
i get back in my car and the stick feels sloppy.
How do I get that feeling without spending thousands?
thanks in advance
mike

Shifter/gearing in the C2S should be the same as in your car. But the RS is an entirely different animal, with a slightly different shifter (metal bushings vs. plastic) and shorter gearing.
Your best bet would likely be OEM SSK with the bushings swapped for metal (https://phenixengineering.com/shop/p...t-bushing-kit/) and shift cables (most people here recommend Numeric).
Good luck!

I felt the 997.2 S stock shifter was sloppy and had too long a throw. Numeric shifter fixed this and now it shifts like a bolt action rifle. No plastic pieces, all metal. Also I use stock cables and had the transmission fluid changed to ptx.

My install and impressions start on a later page in the thread above.
I put in the Numeric shifter and am very happy. I don't like short shifters.... actually I can't stand them, but to each their own. The Numeric has options for shift leverage... I chose the middle point and am happy.
Peace

Numeric FTMFW.
My experience limited to standard shifter (on short test drives before I bought my car) and OEM short shifter. I understand the CAE shifter is even more impressive, but in appearance is far from stock.

During the PPIs on both my 997s, the Tech mentioned that they had a SSK installed. One was OEM and the other wasn't, but both cars shift very well with precision. You need an upgrade and you'll be good to go. There are a few choices, so do your research and while you're at it, upgrade to the Numeric Shifter cables with the metal ends as that will prevent a future failure of the stock plastic ends.
