I don't have enough experience yet to have an opinion, but my new to me C4S cab has the same 20 inch wheels as the OP, and I do love the way they look. I haven't ridden in a 997 with the 19's, so I have nothing to compare to at this point. The original factory 19's also came with the sale, so I have the option of switching back if necessary. The 20's rode fine on the highway, but haven't taken out yet on secondary roads..

By dropping the car and adding centerlock I think it came out pretty nice.
Not to call you out specifically (this applies to Mick's car upthread, too), but I think the viewing angle makes all the difference. From a front or front-3/4-angle, like this photo, the right design can look fine. However, from the side, as in your avatar, they still just look oversized and incorrect IMO.

My car also had the 19s, the 20s are no different in ride quality. They actually feel like they ride smoother.

19's came on the car...19's will stay on the car. Perfect balance of form and function.

I agree with you in that the design we did on this wheel is missing another lip inside and making the brakes look tiny...that would be my only gripe.

From manufacturer - There are wheels that look good, wheels that enhance your car’s performance, and then there are wheels that do both. The RF67 is one of those wheels that not only looks great, but also has proven performance benefits to back up its good looks. As with all Champion Motorsport wheels, the RF67 is made from a single piece of forged A6061 aluminum, heat-treated to T6 standards for maximum strength and durability, and forged using an 8000 pound forging press. This process results in an incredible maximum yield strength of 40,000 pounds per square inch (psi). Each step insures that the finished wheel is not only extremely strong, but also very lightweight, ranging from 19.5 lbs to 23 lbs depending on vehicle application, diameter, and width. And since every Champion wheel is born from a proven racing heritage, the RF67’s beautifully curved 10 spoke design will look get tons of looks whether you’re working on your lap times or just out for a casual Sunday drive.
I have the identical 8.5 x 20/11 × 20 RF67s on my 2009 C4S Cab. I weighed factory 19s and RF67s without tires. I don't have the exact numbers with me, but IIRC, the fronts were around 3.5 pounds lighter each; the rears, a bit over over 5 pounds. On smooth roads and on track these wheels, with Pilot Sport 245/30s and 325/25s 4Ss perform better than the factory 19s; on the rough rural roads around here, the lower tire aspect ratio is definitely noticeable. I agree that you DO NOT want cast 20 inchers with spacers if you drive at all aggressively!!

dgjks6 thanks but I already have an arctic silver top without roof rack as well and I'm trying to get down to one top. I acquired the top with the rack on it as I was
planning to drive my 4S year round (I'm a professional ski instructor and coach a high school ski team).

Perfectly said. Esp about 20”….just because it “fits” doesnt make it right. We steer everyone away from 20” on 997’s

997 on Bilstein/HR springs here with 18 inch BBS E88's and decent tire setup (decision made after 3 sets of 19's and wanting more tire for comfort, clearance and performance)

18's on a 997 is more performance oriented and gives a bit more tire, but unless the 997 is lowered, don't look appealing (to most people) but still offer performance over 19's...if you need reassurance ask the cup cars.
19's on a 997 is perfect. Right mix of performance and looks, OEM size for a reason and I'd say are 90% of owners best bet.
20's on a 997, to big for my taste and the worst selection of tires and treads vs the 19/18's..very rarely look or ride as good vs 19's, and in those rare cases it has more to do with suspension/wheel specs, ride height, offsets, tire size and personal tolerance as to what is "comfy"...

We're not here to say who's decision on wheel diameter is right and who's is wrong, but what we can say is that 20" wheels do fit the 997 platform correctly. Same goes for 19's, same goes for 18's. There's room in this world for 997 owners to use these three sizes. Every customer is unique and has different needs/wants.

21" is where the line should be drawn on this car due to there being a lack of tires available with the correct rolling diameter.

Below is my former 997 C2S on 20" HRE C106's (20x9 || 20x11 using 245/30/20 and 305/25/20 tires) and under that is our current 997 Turbo with 20" HRE 527S (20x9 || 20x13 using 245/30/20 and 345/25/20 tires). Both with perfectly fitments and usability.
