Default Manual transmission oil. Sorry

Sorry for this. I know this has been beaten to death on other oils. But I can’t find much about what I’m about to ask.
I already have four quarts of this redline 75w-90 gl-5 year oil. Just wondering if I can use this? I don’t believe I have an LSD. it’s a base c2 with 6spd manual.

Mobilube PTX. Even for your C2. You can use that stuff (not recommended) and eventually you will be repeating the job.

Sure you can use it. Of course that doesn't mean that's the best choice. Why not go to school on the numerous threads on this forum about this topic and use the PTX? My personal experience with the stuff is consistent with the positive commentary provided by dozens.

Do not use that stuff. I had my manual trans fluid change to Red Line and the shifts were no longer smooth. Changed back to the Factory OEM Mobil Lube and it is now flawless.

Glad you asked?! LOL It may have been difficult to sort out the vague responses.

FWIW - Porsche no longer uses the PTX, they use 000 043 305 48/49
Check the updated parts diagrams

A change by Porsche doesn't necessarily reflect an improvement. Could be cost, environmental, or marketing related. IMO, when something works as well as PTX you stick with it, even if they don't.

Anyone know where I can get the Mobilube PTX here in SoCal?
if not I’ll just order from sunset. Just want to take care of this this weekend.
Thanks

You may be able to get a dealer to sell you 3 liters if you have your own container. Otherwise, Sunset is your best bet.

Got mine from Suncoast, have it in both the 993 and 997.1, made big difference and would never use any other.

Was shocked to find out my local independent store can get me the PTX by Monday. Although it’s $41 per qt. But no shipping.
Done deal.
