YIKES!!! Dealer Installed Engine Mounts. What Is Wrong
#17
Yeaaah...That's why I am suspicious....both times when I arrived home, I had to tightened the loose water pump bolts and others and even found four lines that were not secured in the snap clips because the snap clips were broken! Duhh, Porsche, Carrera, Icon, Quality, Etc. and this Master Mech in Training does already half asses. I am sure it is a conspiracy. Having leave to have two coil packs installed due to misfires....Ching Ching Keep brainstorming!

There are a number of ways to adjust the tips - not only on the tips themselves where they connect to the exhaust, but also the muffler bracket. I replaced both of my mounts and had a similar issue as you are seeing (I also have a base 3.6 engine). I know I installed the mounts correctly. So I adjusted the tips and then the muffler on the side that was off by a bit, and now it looks perfectly level.
Also, what's dripping on your garage floor in the first photo? Coolant?

Based on the shoddy workmanship from this dealer, I'd also be concerned if the mounts are actually installed correctly. If they didn't get the square piece of the motor mounts properly seated into the square of the engine carrier bracket on the side that's much lower, that could help explain why that one side is lower - that also makes it impossible to properly torque the nut on the bottom. From underneath are you seeing the same length of the large threaded post extending down or is one shorter than the other?
If both are new and installed correctly, then it's just a matter of adjusting the tips to look the same by loosening the nut on the spherical ball joint.
There has to be e a good European Indy in the area that would do better work than this dealership, or you might need to start your tool collection and DIY some of this stuff.

Here in North Carolina, Raleigh, there is a shop called ShadeTree Garage for BMW services. It sits under two big oaks and is by far the best independent shop for BMW in the area. Most of their business is provided by disappointed customers from Leith, Performance and all local dealers. When I need something a little beyond my capabilities, I take my 997.1 C4S to them and they do a wonderful job. You have to know them.

Only thing I can think of is that over time the mount sagged and a previous owner adjusted the tips so that they were even. When new mounts were installed, they needed to be adjusted again. And even though mounts should be changed together, I can see how someone might complain about replacing an expensive part (the good mount) that does not need replacing.

Any shop doing this repair and letting car go to customer in this condition is worthless and totally lacking follow thru.
There's no excuse for such novice work from a dealer
