Project Dora: A 997 version of the 911 R!

This factory 2005 Porsche Carrera S will be undergoing a huge transformation over the next few months morphing it into a 4.0 liter X51 Build with a variety of GT3 parts and aftermarket goods that essentially will have this Carrera easily pushing over 400hp with a new aggressive 911 R inspired look. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...cdc40115e3.jpg The original 997.1 Carrera M97 3.8 liter engine will be converted to a 4.0 liter starting with the engine block to be prepped by LN Engineering using their proprietary “Nickies” special aluminum alloy sleeving process increasing the bore strength by up to 66% over the stock material. The new bore will be matched with custom 101mm JE forged pistons that will produce the 4.0L displacement. As we begin the teardown of Dora, the following items were chosen to feed and expel air to the robust 4.0L short block. · Factory Porsche X51 cylinder heads · Factory Porsche X51 intake manifolds · Factory Porsche X51 plenum · Factory Porsche X51 throttle body · Factory Porsche GT3 RS double-inlet air box modified to connect to X51 intake · Factory Porsche X51 exhaust manifolds(headers) · TPC Racing GT3 valved side muffler bypass pipes with custom made flanges to connect to X51 exhaust manifolds · Factory Porsche GT3 center muffler & tips https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...4774ed9a6a.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...e9451faad7.jpg The suspension for Dora will only require the necessities in order to make a stout street/race car build for occasional track usage with the previously installed TPC Racing adjustable sway bars and drop links, DSC Sport suspension controller and 3-axis accelerometer, and lastly the TPC Racing custom 4-wheel alignment to exceed the needs for Dora. Over the years we have been systematically been doing the upgrades from suspension to including the brakes from a Factory GT3 that are 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, Factory Porsche 350mm front and rear crossed drilled rotors, and Factory Porsche GT3 master cylinder to give great stopping power for Dora with the increased HP/TQ it will be making. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...aa6c28d3ad.jpg Dora will be keeping the Forgeline VX1 wheels in a Gunsmoke finish that is 19x8.5 front and 19x11 rear wheels with Michelin Pilot SuperSport tires at 235/35-19 front and 295/30-19 rear to keep an aggressive stance and outstanding performance. The bodywork that is to go with Dora’s build is influenced by the European GT3 and 911 R, so what better than having a Factory Porsche GT3 front bumper with a euro spec Factory Porsche GT3 rear bumper that has center muffler exit as well as the euro license plate area on the back to give that unique euro look from the GT3. Notice the cut outs of the European factory rear bumper beam for weight savings. The owner wanted keep it stealthy and keep the original decklid, looking to make a 997 version of the rare 911 R. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...3e5f619a8b.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...9f8c816a27.jpg It is always easier said than done as we will be staying up to date with the process of Dora’s build and updating with content as the build proceeds. Be sure to stay tuned and subscribe for this X51 911 R build to give your ideas, inputs, or have feedback on how we are proceeding with the build in relation to your own Porsche. It will be a busy few months as are deadline for this project is in February. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...0e70eb53c4.jpg |

Subscribed. This is going to be awesome!
One of my all time favorite cars is a black 997 / 911R inspired build. I wish I could find the pics again... probably buried in a post here or on Insta. |
Looking forward to seeing the build!

Will the TPC valved side bypass pipes with custom flanges be for sale to the public? I’d be interested in a set. |
Car porn. Love this stuff. Good luck, and hopefully frequent updates in the future!

Subscribed. Very excited to see how this comes along. Would love to do a similar build after another 30,000 miles or so.

that will be neat to see

As I just posted on 6-speed: Great project. I wonder if you're not being a bit conservative with the end result HP output though. Looks like a lot of the engine mods are the same as what I have on my -11 GTS but I only have a 3.8L engine vs. your 4.0 and my GTS still puts out 408 HP. Seems like you should top that with the larger bore and all the rest.

Subscribed. That's going to be a heck of a car ! Love it.
