Alcantara vs carbon fiber interior
I’m considering replacing my 997.1S multifunctional triangle steering wheel to alcantara along with the shift boot,e-brake and arm rest from DCT Motorsports. I called Randy from DC Auto and he recommended that I could replace my interior silver bits to carbon fiber from a wrecked GT3. I feel that I would enjoy the carbon fiber but now I am having a tough time figuring what direction that I want to go.
Does anyone have any advice that I should consider in my decision? I think that it will cost just under $2k for the alcantara pieces ( I have asked Ivan from DCT that I want to keep my original pieces, that’s why it is so much). Randy quoted me $1200 for only the center console and shift ****/boot. Will the labor of all the carbon bits cost a ton? I’m sure that would be a concern of mine. Or should I just stick to the original plan and enjoy the upgraded feel of the steering wheel?
Thanks always for Rennlist’s advice.

And I am three... I truly HATE the carbon look within a car's interior. Carbon serves for function, not form (in most applications). Also, I had an alcantara steering wheel... I could not wait to swap it out. They look and feel awesome when brand new, but over time, they get nasty, slick, wadded up, etc. However, for track work, they are great with gloves... I drove a GT3 this weekend with 21K on the odo, the wheel was in horrible condition. But again, this is all subjective... do what makes YOU happy.

Carbon fiber composites(tre resin part that cures and holds the carbon fiber- over time will turn a yellow-ish color as a reaction to sunlight both inside and outside the car. It also gets brittle--or more brittle. I wouldn't do it

Big fan of carbon fiber accent if not over done. I’ve added several trim pieces to my interior and definitely adds a great look. Aftermarket is better quality than the original which tends to green.

My 2010 C4S came with carbon fiber wheel, cup holders, and center console. They have held up very well and look great in my opinion.
Personally I hate alcantara because every time I look at it I see what it will look like in the near future.
But it's a matter of personal taste. You are the only one who can decide what you like and want.

nope count me in too. No thanks on the carbon fiber but I love alcantara, even when a little worn. It makes the car look like it was actually driven. When it gets too worn just re-wrap it (steering wheel, shifter, whatever) and start the process again. It also holds you in the seat better than leather when cornering hard.
