Default Brake pad heat shields? Any good for track use?

Hello all,

I have searched this topic, but could not really find an answer.

Do the track users have any benefit from using these Titanium plates? Do they really help in any way? Do you remove them for street?

I am debating in using them but cannot really cannot make up my mind.

Thanks for the information.

No need for plates and especially titanium (at least based on my observation and experience). Just like stainless steel brake lines (I don't see them on Cup cars). All just have plasebo effect. But again, this is your money and we need to support our vendors.

Used them on my M3 with positive results but that is a completely different car. They were crazy noisy on the street on the way back (they rattle around). Our machinist went out of business so I don't have access to make them currently but may start making them again (they were extremely affordable). Would like to know the desire of the plates vs titanium pucks vs SS pistons VS Titanium pistons.

What's your track level? Advanced, intermediate? beginner? The newer you are at it, the less of these things you need, as the stock configuration with a decent track pad and Motul 600 hi-temp fluid is all you need. Once you begin trailering your track specific car to the track, and swapping tires based on conditions, then these details start to become important. If you are at that level, go to the track sub-forum and ask those guys and gals.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I am not near the advanced level track guy (not trailering yet), but do use Motul 660 and some decent pads, so I will stat away from those plates for now.
