Default Popping Sound

Hey everyone,

I'm a relatively new 997.2 owner (S, 6MT, 56k miles). Been lurking around a bit and meaning to post an intro, but I've been busy this summer. So hello and nice to meet everyone!

I e noticed and odd popping sound and a hesitation to move on a few occasions. It sounds like it's coming from the front of the car. It has only happened a few times and seems to happen after the car has been parked for a while. Basically, I'll turn the car on, let it warm a bit, and then engage first to move forward. Instead of moving forward like normal, it will hesitate and I will hear a popping sound. With a little more gas than normal it moves but makes the popping sound and almost feels like the brakes were still applied a bit.

I'm thinking either a suspension part wearing out or maybe something with the brakes. Thoughts? Could it be clutch related?

To be clear, definitely not engine related. Everything sounds and operates normally with the engine.

Sounds like mine after washing it. The rotors lightly rust and then “break” free the first time I drive it.

It does sit outside. This happened earlier today after having sat for 4-5 days since a drive.

Sounds like not much to worry about? Should I take any precautionary measures?

Come to mention it, the car did sit through a tropical storm yesterday. That seems likely the culprit.

Happens to me everytime after I wash my car and let it sit. I try to drive it for 10 minutes after the wash to dry out the brakes.

Yep, this. Or if outdoors sitting in a rain storm. Or if stop for a while after submerging in water puddles. Etc.
