This spectacular car is a birthday present from Porsche Motorsport to fans all over the world,” says Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser, Vice President Motorsport and GT Cars.
Vehicle price:

701,948 Euro plus country-specific VAT.

I need to look up "present"

I want to like it, but can't shake the feeling that it's just a street car (GT2RS) with a ton of body kit added on.

Yeah, thought a present was something someone gives to you, not that you pay $815K for

Cool looking car nonetheless, but a bit above my price threshold. I probably could cover the sales tax if they want to send me one.

I think it is just a translation issue. In german it probably read: “A present to Porsche Motorsport from fans around around the world”. Prepositions can be tricky.

Its neat.. but also less attractive as a car (like all low production recent 911) because of being unobtanium. Many folks who end up with one of these will also have a 911 R and other exclusive 911. For me a 911 is only as attractive as my potential for being able to use it. These things will be trading hands at over a million dollars in short order and they'll only stay there and climb. A 911 strictly for millionaires.. meh. Its still neat but loses some luster for that reason.

There is already a big song and dance to get yourself a new GT3. I'm perfectly satisfied to get a used one as I feel like its a bit a loss of self respect to do all that is required to get a slot to order. Its a car, if I have the money to buy it, I want to just buy it, not do some charade or put some dollars in the collection plate in order to be granted a spot by the overlords *cough* ahem dealers.

I'm sure I'm in the minority but I don't like it. I think the proportions are weird.

I'll have a real 935 thanks.

I'd guess this will be a great investment, probably selling for $2m 3-4 years after they are launched

Very nice homage to the original 935. All 77 models will sell immediately then turn into a flipping game. Damn you Porsche!

It's likely to be worth 25% above list already - just like the R people will be trading slots, even if they aren't meant to be allowed to.

Porsche will be pumping out a ton of limited internal combustion engine vehicles as we lead up to the end and into the EV world. Expect more to come!

as someone said in another thread, porsche needs to stop doing half cocked recreations of prior great cars and actually produce some great cars that they will then replicate in 30 years.
