connecticut indie shops
all,
I have read through all the indie shop reviews I can find on the site. I have three nearby shops - trying to decide which to use for basic maintenance on my 997.2:
I have read through all the indie shop reviews I can find on the site. I have three nearby shops - trying to decide which to use for basic maintenance on my 997.2:
- Fairfield County Motorsports - most conveniently located (in my town); I have some friends who have stated preference for Morton Competition vs these guys (based on rates; ease of doing business; etc.)
- Morton Competition - talked to Stuart on the phone; seems like a good shop; my only concern is that Stuart is rarely in the Stamford location, and I wonder who is actually running the show in Stamford?
- Rennwerke - I know nothing about this shop other than what I read on here through search; not as conveniently located as the other two

Hi Kelias,
I am in Greenwich and personally use Rennwerke which has a very good reputation. The other option is in Danbury called SpeedSport. SpeedSport did a PPI on a car from Porsche Danbury that I did not end up purchasing. But the experience was a good one.
Both of the above seem to be the premier shops for our area.
I am not familiar with the other two you proposed so I cannot form an opinion.

appreciate the input, thank you.
kind of surprised you haven't crossed paths with Morton - they are right in Stamford and seem to be fairly well known P-car specialty shop.
thx again

Depends on what you need to do. Different shops with different levels of capability and price.
Do you want a shop where you can bring parts and just get charged labor?

thank you. right now just thinking about routine maintenance - no problems with the car and not yet looking at doing any performance mods.
sounds like Rennwerke is well regarded - just not real convenient (location) for me.
anyone have firsthand experience with Morton?

Speedsport is great but, by way of offering variety- my two local shop is European Specialists. It is located in Branford, so a bit of a haul for you, but excellent quality of work and one of the few places I trust with my past and present cars. Honest work but not the cheapest.
