Question: 997.2 Rear Decklid w/ Reflector to 997.1
Has anyone with a 997.1 fitted the 997.2 rear decklid onto their car? I'm wanting that reflector and have a 4S. Just wondering if anyone has done it.
The description reads: With modifications, it can be fitted to 2005-2008 Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, or Carrera 4S models.
What exactly is needed though? Any ideas?

The angle of the throttle body is different between the 2 generations so I'm wondering if the fan mount position is slightly different between the two. Otherwise, the decklid should fit the same.

It is my understanding that the fans and their mounting points are different between the two. They have different clearances but I cannot say which one works for both and which is the limiting height.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that the rear bumper would also need to be swapped out. That will also mean you need to upgrade the tail lights as well as they are unique to the 997.2.

itll fit fine, over the years i have seen a few photos of a few 997.1s that have had the deckid swap. you will have to google or search the forums for the photos.
taillights and bumpers don't need to change, the reflector is embedded in the decklid.

That actually won't matter. There will just be extra air entering the engine bay, but the intake will draw from the driver's side snorkel like it does today. If you want to take advantage of that additional air inlet, you can switch to an Evoms intake that will draw from both sides and is still a CAI since the inlets are really only open at the decklid.

I know this is personal taste, but one of the things I like about my 997.1 4s is that it doesnt have the reflector. Not that it would matter anyway, as I am now running an aftermarket decklid.
Just my opinion, but if I were you, I would spend money on a bumperette delete and painted lower valance, before I would spend on a huge reflector.
On a side note, first thing I would always do on my bikes as a kid was remove all the reflectors from the wheels, pedals, seats, etc, So maybe I am an anti-reflectorist. Just dont see why you would want to add a huge one to the rear of the car. Walmart has stick-on reflector strips, if you really want it. You can stick them all over your car for extra safety. LOL
Here is my 4s with bumperette delete, painted lower valance, and 997.2 rear bumper and stock 997.1 decklid. Much cleaner look, in my opinion.

Another better way to spend the money is on the Techart rear diffuser. I had it on my 997.1 pre 997.2 rear update, and it made a huge difference. Combined with bumperette delete, I am sure it would look incredible.
Again... this is just my opinion, based on my personal taste and experience.

The top pic is of my 997.1 decklid (white.) The 997.2 pic below (orange) looks pretty much identical, except for the extra snorkel cutout which has already been discussed, and those six black bolts at the top of the orange one. My guess would be those six bolts are for attaching the reflector. Aside from that, everything else looks like it should line up.

I'm with you 100% on this. Nice clean look on your car with nothing to detract from the wide body curves. That reflector and the bumperettes were the only things I wasn't crazy about on my -09 C4S. Now on the GTS, I've got the WB without the reflector, the valance came painted from the factory so the bumperettes are the only things remaining. Haven't really looked into what's involved in that. I'm hoping they can simply be removed followed by some relatively minor body work and then paint.
