The rear reflector doesn't look right on a 997.1, i don't think it belongs there.

Agreed. The 997.2 tail lights "swoop" up into the reflector, giving the sense of one flowing piece. Because of the tail light style on the earlier 997.1, that just doesn't work, making the reflector look like an afterthought.

IMO, it doesn't work well on the 997.2 either. Hasn't looked good since the 996 where it was done right for a completely continuous line with the taillights all the way across. Its the one thing on the 996 styling they got right.

I agree Pete. Only the 996. Also, the 928 GTS did it right. Similar concept, straight line across the lower edge, one continuous flow.

Yup, 928 too. They got everything pretty much right on the GTS version of the 928. Would love to have one of those.

It is also my understanding that the reflector accumulates water, which means that even if you don't drive it in the rain, it will happen when you wash it.
