Kelly Blue Book reports 997.1 prices are climbing
Looks like 997.1s have hit the depreciation inflection point. Kelly Blue Book has a service where it will send you emails if a car's price increases or decreases more than 2%. I just got an email saying the 997.1 has increased over 2% in the past few months.
I suspected this as I have seen low mile 997.1 CS2's list for $42-45 2yrs ago to now I see more listed at $45-49. I also received 2 offers on my car for 20% more than I paid 2yrs ago, despite putting 25k miles on it.
Thank you 997.2 owners :-)

Stopped by my local Porsche dealer as I do once a month on Sunday. Only one 997 for sale, a .1 with 46k miles for 47k dollars.
Lots of Caymans, all other 911 were 991.1 and most were base Carreras.

From personal experience I can tell you the 997.1 C4S market is tight and cars have risen in value.
I shopped for my 2007 997C4S from October 2017 thru May of 2018. Never have I experienced such a tough find.
There are very few manual transmission examples for sale and when they come available they sell quickly.

I just bought my second 997.1, but this time I bought a '07 base C2 6 speed, black on black with 34k miles from a Porsche dealer, not heavily optioned, but a clean car on PPI. I may have overpaid for it @ $44k. They did however do the 40k mile service, new plugs, coils, oil, air filters, all 4 tpms. PPI was great. I guess with the rising used prices, I may not have paid too much in a few months after all.

I like to read that 997 pricing may be on the upswing but I won't hold my breathe on long term pricing. I really got lucky when I sold my 89 964 in Oct 2017 for a significant profit than what I paid for it in 2006. I doubt lightning will strike twice for myself so I will just enjoy my 997S which I think I picked up below market earlier this year.

This makes me excited, but not because I want to sell my 997. I bought it used last summer and have been enjoying the hell out of it. I've put just over 5k miles since I bought it, and it still only has 53k miles on the odometer. It's an 05. I think I got a really good deal on mine, so I'm happy to read that values are holding or increasing.
I did make a deal with my youngest son recently and told him if he made straight A's through high school, I would put him on the insurance for this car. It's a win win for me. I can't lose, right? LOL

Of my 40 or so Porsche purchases since 1984 my recent purchase of my 2007 997C4S had to be the most painful process - Young punk Techy with attitude.
My attitude is larger so took 2 months but finally got seller to accept my offer.
I got a great deal and super fun drive home to Seattle.
Nice manual transmission 997.1 C4S's are hard to find - Most Tiptronic and ugly color combos.

So far I'm happy. Bought my 05 CS2 with a manual for $35,000. Driven it for 10,000 miles. Prices for ones with the current miles are closer to $38,000.
I don't care if it appreciates. I don't plan on getting rid of it soon. But it is comforting to know that in the near future if something comes up, I can have driven the car for the last few years for maintenance cost.

I mean seriously. There's a repo'd 997.1 Tip with a rough body, that won't turn over after they allegedly "heard a loud ticking," and it's sitting at $7k with 3 days to go.
