Default RAC performance in Dallas

there are some good cars that they are selling
anyone has any experiences buying Porsche from them (the car sales team) out of state?
i believe they took over the RUF facilities (i'm not sure) on the performance division

They do have some good cars. But still proceed with caution. PPI and paint meter on hand.

RAC used to be the RUF Auto Center until RUF pulled the licensing rights and moved them to RUF Auto US in Southfield, MI (no longer there either, with the closest authorized RUF dealer now in Canada). When RUF in TX lost the RUF rights, they became RAC Performance. Some of the original guys are still there and they have a very good reputation as both a dealer and a service facility.

RAC has a good reputation with the local PCA here. I’ve used them for a PPI and also looked at their inventory. As a previous poster said, you still need to have a proper PPI done by a neutral 3rd party. Their cars vary as you would expect

I've heard nothing but good things about them but was quite underwhelmed when I went to visit that place. They seemed very uninterested in speaking with me about any of their cars or services. Maybe they were just busy, but not a place I would go back to for any needs after that.

Haven't purchased a car there (but have drooled over dozens). Importantly, I've had service there under third party warranty. Was an intermittent issue that wasn't simple to diagnose - error codes didn't persist. As such, it took a few days to get it to reproduce. They provided a loaner car during the latter part of it, at their own expense. Hans is awesome. He and his folks know these cars.

@marucus1: We've sent our Porsche tech in Dallas for PPIs on RAC cars, and they've been accommodating in helpful in our experience.

I submitted an inquiry regarding service my vehicle received there by the previous owner. They had no real reason to reply let alone provide an exhaustive response and invitation to talk further but that’s exactly what was done. Quite impressed with that level of service.

Nothing special going on there. 10 years prior and previous leadership, yes. As always anywhere tread carefully. Plenty of experts who are good people here in DFW. Need one? Ask PCA Mavericks.

I have bought from them and have had my cars serviced there. I have had a good experience. My only knock is that it does take some time for them to follow up on emails and voicemails. I can recommend them.

Default I recently purchased a 2009 997.2

I purchased the car and brought it to GA. The deal was straight up. The pictures showed two keys but they only had one in hand. Sales man assured me owner had second key. Car was supposedly service there also. Still waiting for the 2017 service records. No second key No 2017 records. Now they wouldn’t even return my calls. Not happy

Got a little bit of a run around on a car I wanted to buy from out of state. Was told for sale, but lots of interest. Then someone put a deposit on it. Asked if I could see it or get pics or have my local family member look at it and then got told it was being worked on. Ended with them telling me the car was sold. This was all in the same phone call over 5 minutes. Didn'

Asked if they keep a list of buyers for cars. Was told no.

I attribute this to the good economy and how it makes sales easier for a lot of goods and sales people take this for granted in the good times.

Still check their website but if I get the same run around on the phone again if they have a car I want to buy I'll take them off my usual list of car shopping websites.

I've purchased three cars over the years from RAC, and used them for service when I lived there. They were always upfront and honest. The work done was very high quality - not cheap, but done correctly. They are not going to fall all over you like a true dealer will. This may be why you feel like you're getting a "run around", but I'd encourage anyone to use them. Their emphasis has always been service first then sales almost as an afterthought. That's fine, but just know that going in. Hans is a great guy, but will not sugar coat anything. But what he tells you is true - that goes a loooong way for me. Now that I'm in the hill country I miss those guys! (have found ATX motorsports though - almost like being back at RAC).
