Looking for indy shop, Chicago or west suburbs
Hi folks,
After relocating to Chicago 2 years ago, I am still looking for the right indy repair shop for my 997 and Audis. I'm in the Oak Park area, so anything from West Loop to the western suburbs would work. I'd love any recommendations you can provide.
Thanks

al is as knowledgeable and honest as they come.
he used to track a built b5 s4 and now a cup car.
omnipresent at audi and porsche events in the region and nationally.
this shop maintained my b5s4 and 993 during my entire ownership and were always fabulous to deal with.
easy drive from oak park to boot.

+1 for VFC... Doug has been servicing my 2010 4S Cab, my 2012 Cayenne S and my 2014 wife's Q7 for years. Great service, they've always treated me right. They're about a block south of the Ravenswood Metra stop, super convenient if you're a Northern Suburbs kind of guy like me, maybe less so for an Oak Park guy like you

Sorry for the delay -- thanks for all the replies. I'm going to start calling tomorrow. I am still open to anything more local. All of these places are about 45 minutes from my house, except CPT. I've taken several of my cars there and doubt I'll go back.

Care to elaborate about CPT? I was thinking about taking my car there but would like to hear your experience..

Buffalo Grove is not exactly around the corner to you but Sol is worth considering.
I no longer live in Chicago (Barrington) but have friends there who are car fanatics. On a trip a couple years ago he took me to Sol’s place. I got a tour and met the people. It was VERY impressive. Unbelievably clean. Gorgeous cars of various vintages. I didn’t own a Porsche when we lived there but I can recommend him based on my friend’s relationship, and my impressions from visiting and talking to Sol.
Good luck with your search

CPT does a lot of track support. Because of that, they are never around because in the summer they are supporting customers at track events throughout the country. That's my experience.

In fairness to Alex at CPT, he's offered to set this straight with a no-charge oil change on the SQ5. But taking my 997 and my other Audi in there earlier I wasn't that happy anyway. Good work, but they tacked a $125 "inspection" on every service, and his hours were higher than what I paid at my old shop in NY. I have no problem paying a premium price for premium service, but I'm not going back to a shop that adds unauthorized inspection charges, and then botches something as simple as an oil change. I'm not upset, I'm just done doing business with them anymore.
I've always favored indy shops, but honestly I've gotten better pricing and service from the Audi dealer (Audi of Westmont) than I did at CPT.
