Proximity keys for a 997 ?
Has anyone seen or heard of the ability to convert a 997.2 to have a proximity key ? I've driven a Toyota for the last 6 years with one and really don't enjoy the whole key thing.

I think not. Porsche makes these for newer cars. Replace the keyed ignition with a stop start button and add the 'keyless' receiver to the car and at least the drivers door. It's a $745 option so it seems that even a Porsche dealer could or should be doing this upgrade for less than $2000. Which is what it's worth to me. (Knowing that P will charge $3000)

yup, its super overwhelming to have to take a key, push a button on it, and then twist it in the ignition. How did we survive for 100 years??
I'm sure someone could do this for you, but it will cost more than $2k installed

Why would you introduce another piece of electronics that will fail in a few years? Why not add the stop/start engine at the red light, too.
Driving a 997 is like a jump back in time, where things were more raw and natural.

Evolution doesn't bother me. A 2011 car can or should have this. It would be sacrilege on a 68 911.

There is a system that works and works well. A friend of mine had it retrofitted into his Supra mk4. I've been contemplating doing this myself, too but the Supra being an older car, doesn't have a coded key to my knowledge. That is the only thing that I am not sure about with this entire retrofit.

Guess I never saw / had the need. Press a button, door unlocks, open door, get in and start the car. Never had any concern with scratching anything. To me, wouldn't be worth the effort - but to each his own.
