Did a 30 second online photoshop. Removed the Porsche font, and moved the emblem to center, in case you wanted to know what it would look like without the wording.

Pretty good photoshop then. Stripes like this only if you have a wing (looks like you do). And it will look a bit odd on the street. perfectly fine for the track. Also you'll want it to match some other accent on the car. So silver side script, or model designation or mirrors or even wheels. (looks like you did the mirrors... I'd also suggest having silver wheels if you do not or black wheels with a silver edge/rim).
Look at the 997.2 GT3 RS. Lots going on with that car but they did a good job of evening all the graphics out with other accents around the car. Not great for rolling up to the country club but perfect for gentleman racer.

All good points, look at the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 , that car has a center stripe that works well. IIRC its outlined in another accent color that is present throughout the car too.

For me the sunroof belies the whole thing. If the car were a slick-top the stripe would work, or at least be less "-ish."

Not necessarily "tacky," it just detracts from the otherwise cool esthetic of the vehicle. I've never liked midline stripes very much on any car. Maybe in a dual bilateral (parallel) formation?

If you have to ask...

Have you seen the dark blue Veyron that parks near the Panerai shop off Rodeo Dr? The one with the lion's head mural on the hood. It's nothing like your P-car but I was reminded of it anyway.
