Default Houston Area - IMS Replacement Recommendations

Hello,
My father is going to sell his 996 and wanted to get the IMS bearing replaced before he sells it. Does anybody know a good shop in the Houston area to get it changed at a reasonable cost? Also are there any suggestions on which IMS bearing kit he should get?

Motorwerks Autogroup in Houston or Mayo Performance in Dallas (a bit of a trek). You will want to make sure the pre-qual is done before you change the bearing. The IMS Solution would be a permanent fix whereas the IMS Retrofit is half the price (part cost), but labor is the same.

Hi Houston 996's

First time responding on Rennlist, and don't like to pick up a new subject on an existing thread, but since it's relatively new, and a discussions in the Houston area, I wanted to reach out.
I'm new to the community with the recent purchase of a 2000 Cab in Feb. It's in great shape and I'm enjoying DIY projects on it.

I've been to a few Houston PCA GTG's, and I appear to be the only 996'er there. I've been to the Paper Company on the first weekend, and the Katy one as well.
Any of you all participate in these? or which ones?

Just thought I'd reach out and see where / when you all go so if there's any ideas or information that can be shared while at these events.

Thanks! Rick

Modern Aircooled is where I would take my car if it needed something I couldn't do myself.

I would pass on Autowerks. I used to go there, but they lost they best Porsche mechanic (and I don't know any of their mechanics anymore). I was under the impression that they have been catering to sales for the last few years.

If it were me, I would take the drive to Sealy and use Rennsport. There are other shops in Houston, but Rennsport probably has the best reputation from Porsche folks in the know.
