Personally, I like the subtle contrast of the white ring.
My fear would be keeping the entire steering wheel clean and free of wear, however. I love the alcantara bits on interiors, but for frequent contact items like steering wheels and shift *****, alcantara seems to be worse for wear over time.

I have a Carrera S and the speedometer board and sewn of fabric also - white. I think it would be classic and amazing .with a white ring.

Here's one opinion. I had my wheel customized which included a red stripe at the top to match my belts and gauges. I keep my hands clean and I'm not a slob but that strip is hard to keep clean and it's red. I can't imagine what a white or yellow stripe would look like after some use.
