991 GT3RS fender vents on 997
came across these and gave the folks at Tunning Empire a call, direct fit and $1500 a set without the fake carbon fiber https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...d067f0bf2.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...c55de859f.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...bcde0dd1b.jpeg |
A little over the top for me but I'd love to see some better photos of some that have been properly fit and painted.
|
the hood looks pretty rad
|
A local guy here has a black 997 GT2 with those installed into factory fenders. It looks ok, I'll have to snap a picture next track event.
|
I'd put these on my car for functionality if and only if the car had the chops to back up the look. Putting them on a bog standard Carrera is poor form. Turning a 911 into an autozone special is a pity.
|
I guess the words 'direct fit' is a loose translation. I see a lot of gaps in the picture.
|
I just thew up in my mouth.

I like the fender louvers that Magnus Walker has on his 964:

Nice fenders! Very cool looking! |
I like em, might give em a try.... the hood is hideous thou and I see in one pic that the fender liner ain’t screwed down |

Link to the German site? The fit and finish on the yellow ones are night and day.
|
You know, I've never been a fan of this, but that yellow car doesnt look bad at all. Those are nicely done!
|
.....and immediately decrease the resale value of your Carrera S.

https://9lf.de/en/997-carrera/682-al...l#.W1p_roopCfA they don’t have a price listed but I did email them but haven’t heard back yet |
do you think its functional ?

IMO, I think these would actually work though a big caveat is the Carrera and Turbo fender liner venting from the radiator directs the air onto the tire and out the side of the wheel well. So there may be some modifications needed (easily done with GT3 liners) to maximize the aero effect these are designed to provide. |
I have always liked the front fender vents. I think they would look good even on a base car--especially on a dark-colored car where the vents would be more subtle.
I would shy away from these just because fitting fiberglass parts is a PITA--as you can tell from the pre-paint pictures above. Those gaps would scare me, so you'd have to pay a good body shop to fit them well before any paint was sprayed. |
We make a full carbon gt3rs style fender for the 981. Maybe we should make them for the 997? What do you all think?

I can vouch for RS1 and their build quality/reputation. Top notch. |
Yup, they are functional, you’d have to modify your inner wheel well liner to allow air flow. I’d like to see the race development fenders made for the 997 but not in carbon fiber. Let’s try and keep the price down our cars are aging...
|
it should come with the wheel well then... I believe in these stuff, areo parts are really not only for looks,
