Hate my Tubi Exhaust - Better sounds out there?
So my 997.2 had a Tubi Exhaust added before I got it. The owner paid $3,650 for it (parts and labor). Thanks previous owner!. HOWEVER, after driving it a while, I'm not too thrilled about the sound it makes. It seems too "artificial" to me. Very raspy, import-ish, and coffee can-like. Not the sound a high-end sports car sound have, IMHO.
I know I could search till the cows come home on this topic, but hoping others have heard this system on other 911's and think the same way. Are there other systems out there that sound a little more "race-like"? I'm looking for more zip, less coffee-can sound, dare I say Ferrari-like?
Thanks,
Matt

I feel the 997.2 exhaust will always be lacking one way or another. Either it is too quiet, or too loud.
My 2012 GTS with Sharkwerks center muffler bypass is too much to have PSE on all the time, and too little when I want it loud.
Disconnecting the vacuum actuator in engine bay makes it a tad louder still, but then it's always on until I pull over and re-connect it.
I find the car's sound most enjoyable in the cool morning's air as I drive to work.

If you dont like the tubi you likely wont like the others. The Porsche engine sounds very "farty" under part throttle loads. Unfortunately the great sound everyone talks about is full throttle and 4krpm to redline. Tubi arguably has one of the most pleasing sounds of many of them.

You will only achieve what you want on straight pipes. Sell the Tubi exhaust to me , buy a muffler bypass and delete center muffler. here is a video of a straight pipe fast forward to 1:38 and you will hear it.

Where are you located in Ohio? I'm in Dayton. I have a full cat back FVD Sport exhaust if you wanna give that a listen. It's loud and raspy. I've grown to live with it. I've swapped OEM back in and thought it was too quiet. Have tried different combination of OEM and FVD mufflers and center muffler and ended up putting the full FVD kit back on. It screams above 4k rpms. I had the car out on mid ohio recently where I was able to stay above 4k majority of the time and only then did I really appreciate the exhaust and the sounds it makes. I also get quite a bit of crackle and pops on lift off which is cool and not as artificial sounding as the last couple BMWs we've had. Lastly, cold starts are glorious with this exhaust but my neighbors probably hate it!!

I've got a Tubi on mine and love it. From the inside it sounds like an Aircooled race engine. I don't know what it sounds like on drive by though as I'm always in it. How long have you had it?

My favorite set-up for the 997.2's would be our Maxflo Exhaust and Center Muffler Bypass X-Pipe - throaty, almost exotic-like tone that's by no means obnoxious.
Add a set of Sport Headers if you're looking to free up more power/tq (~+15whp) and add a deeper tone.
Feel free to give me a shout with any questions or for forum pricing!
