Hi All,
I have been looking 'round the forum (OK, lurking) for about a month now and felt it was time to introduce myself. Really enjoying the posts here.

I just got my first running Porsche, Its a 2006 Carrera S, manual, all leather, chrono and PSE. It was the previous owners daily driver and has 180K on the odometer and all the service records. In the month that I've had the car I have replaced the PCM Screen, and re-glued and reset the headliner, dropped the oil pan, added an LN spin-on filter, new plugs and scoped the cylinders (no apparent problems) I also picked up the 3rd radiator kit from Pelican and the GT3 vent for installation this month.

You might be able to tell that I like working on cars and I figured this would be a great one to play with...and I've wanted a 911 since I was 7-8 years old (that's 47 years ago).

Also wanted to say thanks for all the great information I've already got from all y'all.

Gary

Here's a few pics (forgive the wife's Prius in the background)

Whoops, little ding on the left...gotta get that fixed.

Headlights are shiny and clean now.

Look at those miles.

That's awesome! Looks like she can go another 180K + with you doing all of the maint. Congrats!

Congrats!! Looks beautiful. Black is really sharp. Keep us up to date on maintenance issues. Not a lot of us have seen high mileage examples. With good maintenance, you should have no issues hopefully other than wear and tear items. Use it well!

I just noticed from the tailpipes that you have sport exhaust. Your car must sound incredible!

Thanks DesmoSD and awrryan. I'll be replacing coolant hoses come autumn, and watching my oil closely. The wear and tear stuff should be enough work to keep me out of trouble. BTW...I enjoy driving it as well.

The exhaust does sound sweet, especially when I push that sport button. I also cleaned those tips, that was 12 years of neglect, but the ultra-sonic bath and some rubbing compound made them shiny again.

Looks nice. Congrats. Just don't let your wife drive her. After the Prius, you'll never get your car back!

That mileage is impressive. Your car has been daily driven for most of its life. And it looks great! As stated, it will be super valuable if you stay active on the forum to highlight things that come up as there will be very few comparables. Thanks in advance.

What he said^ Epic! Thats the way a 911 should be driven!

You need to add yourself to the high miler thread. Love to know all the maintenance the prior owner did and excited to hear what you have planned.

Enjoy the car.

Thanks for the good words...

I definitely need to keep my wife away from the car. She has already driven it once (stalled it, kept asking what gear she was in, and turned the wheels all the way to lock on a left turn, and let the clutch slip on every start to "make it less jerky"...all in one 30 min drive) It was all I could do to keep the marriage intact. Fortunately, she likes the automatic and the gas mileage of the Prius but I have quietly embargoed her driving it.

I'll definitely keep everyone posted on maintenance and any other issues as I continue my journey with her. I'll also make certain to share pics as I do the work. I'll definitely jump in on the high miler thread

Journey with the wife, the car, or are those two mutually exclusive?

Kidding aside, congrats on the car, looks fantastic!

This is the first car I've ever bought that didn't give me buyer's remorse -- hell, I get buyer's remorse when dinner is more than $50

So far its been really fun, I just wish I would have known to do a visual on the cable at the starter when I pulled the airbox and plenums for cleaning. Oh well, still learnin' this car.

Oh, a bat flew into the windshield last night while we were out for a drive (there's something I don't do with our other cars). Guess it was checking the car out and got a little too close.
