Default 997.2 - Metal Shavings In Oil - Anyone?

2009 C2S 125K miles

Just curious, has anyone with a 997.2 found metal shavings in their oil filters? Any debris of any kind?

I have a magnetic drain plug and never found metal debris on the magnet nor in my filters (I do my own oil changes). On my magnet, I do get a thin film of black "grease" which I suspect are superfine metal particles in suspension.. but I don't really know for sure.

Peace

Panicked on my last oil change. I swear there was metal in the pan when I dumped the oil. So I dissected the filter and there was no metal.

Then I bought an aftermarket warranty.

Misleading thread subject. No need to panic.

I panicked too when I read the title. Damn, now I can go back and relax again. False alarm.

Bruce,

I get the same black film on the magnetic drain plugs in both my 997.2 and 911. The film is nothing to worry about. It the black film starts getting "chunky", then that is a different story.

Cheers!

Mostly remnants of paranoia after owning an M96/97 engine 911.

I have never seen any metallic particles or anything remotely resembling them in either the oil or the oil filter of my 997.2.

Now, mods, can we please lock this thread and send it to the abyss before we suffer any further unnecessary damage to our resale value? lol

I found one flake... and some smaller crystals at the bottom of my oil pan (when I dumped the oil out)

Found a small flake in a 981 with the DFI 3.4. Nothing in the filter. Fingers crossed.
