Saved $10K going w base - feedback on mod’s I’m considering now
Went w a base 997.2 C2 6spd, and want to make some improvements. I have a dedicated race car, and dont like taking a car without a full cage to the track, so probably won’t see much if any track time, but still want it to handle great, sound good, and look cool.
Beres what I’m considering, want to get some feedback
Suspension:
ohlin dfv
LCA gt3 996
front/rear bars (front droplinks)
alignment/balance - semi aggressive street
Wheels/tires:
New apex 18x8.5 and 18x11
Would love re71’s but may go w a better street tire less performance
will use stock 18’s for winter tires
Airflow/sound:
gundo hack
rear x pipe
Other:
paint correction/detail w polish and some protectant gtech or something
light tints

Welcome! Ive got a base 997.1. Insane value.
Fisters and Eibachs were my number 1,2 mods. Eibachs with 15mm spacers transformed the look and greatly improved the ***-wag I would get in high speed cornering. My struts were fine so will wait till 80k miles before I start to think about coilovers. Fisters sounds awesome on the 997.1 but with the 997.2 I believe you need to add the xpipe to get the same growl.
Mine came with 19" wheels. Not a huge fan of the look of 18s but they do give a better ride. Not sure on the .2 but the finish on the the base model .1 calipers look like **** after a few years. I repainted mine and they look great.
Other go-to mods are short shift kit and semi-solid engine mounts. The Sharkwerks guys told me the only thing they recommended for HP was a GT3 TB, IPD plenum and tune. The tune probably just sharpens the throttle response, like sport mode, but you can get the same thing with the Sprint Booster for a couple hundred bucks.
Interested to hear your observations after you install the sway bars and drop links.

First things first. Get a more aggressive alignment that suits your taste. Live with that for a while, THEN do the upgrades if you need more.
Alignments are almost always (purposefully) too soft out of the box.
Otherwise that's a terrific list for something you want as just a fun slightly modded street car. only thing I would add if you want more sound (not performance) is a CIA.

Car looks great, drive it for a while before making any decisions. I had a list of thing I wanted to change when I first got mycar, but the list changed after several months of ownership.

Speaking of which, thanks again for the hookup on the GTS alignment settings, I didn't have them done until I got the new wheels and tires, but I am enjoying the sharper response, I definitely notice improved turn-in.

First of all, congratulations! You have a perfect baseline to start with.
Since you already have a race car, what is your goal with this car? Do you want to build another race car or a HDPE car that's live-able on the streets?

local PCA. Autocross season and Drivers Ed seasons have just begun. Try to explore
the capabilities and limits of your car (pretty high on both) before spending money for

Appreciate everyones feedback, it’s hard to think every time I spend $1,000 that could be used towards racing money. That said, I think I’ll take the feedback and take things in stages while saving some cash, but we’ll see, high likelihood my junkie impulses get the better of me.
