It's often noted that our dyno numbers run lower than others but we do our dyno testing through thirty party dynos to show realistic, repeatable gains with no inflated numbers just real results - something we firmly believe in.
There's several dyno charts around, some on this site, that show the xpipe to have slightly (debatable) power gains at high rpm but a noticeable torque drop off at lower/cruise rpm.

Thank you! We like to do it for a consistent and thorough finish (reveals any pinholes, imperfections that must be fixed) but also to clean the welds. Here are more pictures of the headers:

Do you have a timeline on the midpipes and valved mufflers?

Does the video regarding the cats include the headers too or is that stock headers and stock mufflers?

The prototype cat pipes have been ROMER'ed for a bend profile and sent out to a Rennlist member for installation, media, and dyno numbers. We're waiting to get the pipes made up in one piece for the final product which should take at minimum 2 weeks. The valved mufflers we are waiting on some components and just need to allocate manpower to a production run. We have a new fabricator starting next week which will help us tremendously. This past week we tackled a few other projects while we wait for materials:

Our headers are on the car in all videos. There is a video of headers and cats and the revving video is with all components (far too loud).

I have some questions (sorry for my English as I am writing from Europe)

Always talking on the 997.1 Carrera.

1. When will the sport cats be available in your shop?
2. Will they contain the HJS 200 cell material? They will increas power?
3. What do you think about using them with the OEM mufflers, either normal version or PSE with flaps (probably you have not tested them with PSE/flaps? I have heard several sport cats with OEM mufflers and the sound was not convincing, too brassy, tinny and too bright. The sound in your video on youtube was not bad though.
4. Will your mufflers have flaps?

Thank you!

2. Yes, I invite you to read the initial post where we discuss the HJS cats we are using. Power numbers are coming.
3. Changing out the cats can alter the sound to be borderline raspy, hollow, tinny as you mentioned. Versus an X-pipe design our tone offers more bass notes and is just shy of being too raspy. We don't suggest pairing them with higher flowing mufflers / valved systems as at that point the volume / tone could be obnoxious.
4. Yes our exhaust is valved, full details are in the original post on fuctionality.

Thanks a lot, just one reply, but of course you suggest pairing the cats with your own muffler? If I buy the headers now, I can trust that you will sell the rest as well? Thank you!

You're welcome! While the header upgrade is just fine we don't recommend pairing upgraded cats with our Valved Exhaust. With valves open the tone would be very raspy and excessively loud. Our valved exhaust is perfect as a standalone exhaust solution between mild and wild without needing to modify the cats. We will work on a set of non valved mufflers in the future. We will 100% be selling the valved exhaust and catted pipes shortly. The headers and tips are ready to ship.

MSRP is $495, but Rennlist members get 5% off.

I've been using the prototype version of the Soul sport cats for a few days now and thought I'd give my impressions. First off, the only difference between the ones I have is that the final version will be a one-piece mandrel bent unit as opposed to the multi-piece welded unit seen in photo in the original post above. All else (looks, material, HJS cats) will remain the same.

Finish - The product is very well made and very nice looking, a welcome change from the typical polished units on the market today. High quality welds and materials throughout.
Fit - Perfect fit and bolted directly onto the car without any issues whatsoever.

HJS cats are one of the best and as such I have not received any CELs since having them installed.

We ran my car on a dyno both before and after the cats installed by a local shop here in Dallas called Growler Motor Labs, formerly Cobb Tuning. I'd never worked with them before but because they were formerly Cobb and their reputation here locally is very good I gave them a call. Great guys to work with. They will be sending the dyno charts soon so that we can post them here. As expected there were some gains in both HP and torque. I glanced at the screen after the final run post-install and it seems to have smoothed out the power band where we typically see dips in the 997 power curves. And as I recall it did not sacrifice torque down low as the x-pipe design tends to do.

So far I've only done suspension improvements to my car so with regard to engine/exhaust it's basically stock:

I have a 2007 Carrera S

Stock headers
Fister exhaust
Stock air box with stock air filter

Driving impressions -

First off the sound is obviously much improved. Sounds much more like the exotic cars we're all familiar with. There is also come nice burble and popping going on at certain RPMs. Some might think it's too loud with the Fisters or another valved exhaust but of course that's subjective. For me, I'm happy with the sound and I like it a bit on the louder side anyway.

The engine revs quicker from idle and the hesitations in the power curve dips are gone when accelerating hard.
One really nice aspect of the cats is that I have not had the hesitation that happens sometimes on the 997s when accelerating from a dead stop, which was totally unexpected.

Overall I'm impressed and satisfied with the cats and the results they produce and I think Soul has a good product to add to the exhaust market for our cars. I'm impressed enough to consider adding their headers as well.

Dyno charts to follow as soon as I receive them from Growler. Feel free to ask any questions on anything I may have left out.

Joe
