Talking Unusual Suspension Question

I have a 2005 Base 997 Carrera without PASM. I came into possession a set of struts/shocks for front and rear off of a Base 2009 Carrera without PASM with about 3,000 miles on it.

These shocks are shorter than my shocks, however assembly, points/brackets etc are the same. Can these shocks be used on my car with the overall effect being lowering my car, which I want to do. Or have I lost my mind? (Be kind) I also have the springs off the 2009.

If they cant be re-used I will sell the entire set.

part numbers, 997 343 042 00 and 997 333 059 10

What interesting and this is where the confusion came in. When I bought the shocks the guy selling the set sent pics of them in a Bilstein box. I knew that he was not selling Billstein PS6's to me, he was just using the box as a reference. The PS6 part numbers will fit my 2005 or his 2009, however the OEM shocks are different part numbers and different parts.

The springs control the ride height, not the shock absorbers. If you install those shocks into your car I think you might run into the possibility of having the internal shock valving not work properly or having them "top out' as they decompress. But if you are going to the trouble of changing the shocks you may as well do springs and then they might be OK.

Im not an expert on Bilstein but have some experience. I replaced my suspension due to age and the OEM stuff was Bilstein B4 which I replaced with B6. The B6 had the same geometry and used the same springs but is slightly more stiff. I would imagine what you are replacing are the B4s.

I have the springs as well as the shocks. Correct, current is PS4 and replacements are PS4, but for a newer model.

If you're installing both the shocks and springs from the 2009 donor car as they were originally paired, then I think you'll be fine and it will provide the slight stance drop you're looking for.

You'll need an alignment when you're done.
