Default Zerex G40 ?

Doing a coolant flush on my 997 this weekend. Someone recommended me Zerex G40 instead of the Porsche coolant and told me it is 100% compatible. Anyone used it on the 997 and vouch for the Zerex G40 ? They are a lot cheaper than Porsche branded coolant.

Don't, it's not worth the risk just to save a few dollars. Proprietary coolant has specific lubricants
for your car.
Porsche coolant can be bought at a discount at Pelican Parts.

Porsche doesn't make coolant, the coolant in the Porsche bottle is made by a company that makes coolant. You'll be fine.

Zerex G40 isn't exactly a discount coolant. In fact, it is a premium level coolant, and designed specifically for aluminum blocks. It is an excellent coolant and well suited to our Porsches. I do not use it because of cost (high or low), I use it because of its quality. I would not use any other commercial big box store brand, and I see no need to fuss with "Porsche" branded coolant. All coolant should be changed every 2 or 3 years, regardless of mileage in between.

I use prestige universal on all my cars. To top off anyway, and some flushes or partial refills. Never had a problem. I have a BMW with 190,000 miles, audi with 185,000 miles, had a Grand Prix with 175,000 miles (daughter hit a tree with it), and an excursion with 235,000 miles. No coolant problems. Would not hesitate to use in my 911.
