Default secondary air intake

Hi all, My car has been throwing a secondary air system error (P01491-02 and P0492-02). My mechanic says the secondary air intake pump is bad and to replace it requires dropping the engine and removing the intake manifold ($$$$). Since my understanding is that this is an emissions control device and we don't have smog checks where I live, is there any downside to ignoring this CEL? Thanks.

^ no mechanical downside, secondary air injection only purpose is to heat the catalytic converters quickly after start-up.

It helps to know the year and model of your car in posts like this. I replied in your 6speed thread, but check the emissions warranty on your car as its usually a mandatory much longer time period than the regular warranty

Thanks. 2007 Carrera S with over 100,000 miles on it. Was my daily driver. It's no longer my daily driver so I didn't want to put a whole lot of unnecessary repairs into it if I didn't have to.
