Hourly rates
I thought some might find this interesting to provide some hourly rates for indy and dealers in different areas. Anyone interested in adding to the list? Might help some choose where to go. I'm in central NJ. Just had work done by seemingly well know indy shop called Bodymotion. I am very happy with the service at this time. They were very professional. I did some searching and saw some pretty high dealer rates. Don't know what Porsche of Monmouth rate is. I had been thinking of getting my clutch done there , but chose Bodymotion. Side note...they have a 3.8 GTS motor for sale 38K! wow.
Bodymotion : $ 118/hr

most indies around san fran bay area are 120 - 140 per hr
bear in mind shops can and do vary wildly in how many hours they will try to charge you for job x - that often overwhelms the hourly rate in my experience

I think it's less about hourly rate and more about whether they will charge you for time (vs. "suggested shop time").
My indy charges 140, but doesn't charge 2 hours suggested labor for brakes as example. If it takes him 30 minutes, then that's the bill.

$190 an hour for Porsche of North Houston. I am not aware of any good Indy in Houston, but would like to know if someone has a good shop they know of.
