Default Model Years Detailed Changes ?

Trying and failing to locate a detailed year by year 997 model description. Found a good doc a number of years ago for 84-89 3.2 Carrera when that was my thing, but can’t seem to locate for 997.

Picking up a 997.1 C2S and want to get more familiar.

thanks
Todd

There’s a book that contains the information you seek. I believe it’s called Porsche 997, The Essential Companion. I bought mine on www.amazon.com. It’s not cheap, but it offers a wealth of information on the 997 series cars.

That book was done by Adrian Streather, and he has done some excellent books in the past (e.g. I used to have his 993 book, top notch).

However, his 997 book doesn't seem to be the best example based on https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...l#post13426075. There's errors in the specs, wrong diagrams, etc. Just doesn't give you confidence that he was as thorough as he should be (given the original price of over $100).

Grant Neal published a book back in 2017. I've gone through it, and it looks good. The first version had a few typos (nothing major). But because it's a Kindle book, he updated it. Here's a link...

I too was amazed with how thorough Porsche's website always is (and would have been at the time), there doesn't seem to be any archive functionality or any other site that kept good records of standard features, specifications, and options available for the 997 series run. If there is such a resource I would love to know about it!

This may not be what you are looking for but has a lot of good info. You can change years in the navigation bar and select models within the page. Go to "Features" and you can find which features were standard and which options were available and their cost.
