I got outbid on that car! It worked out though: ended up getting a 997.2 C4S manual with similar mileage and specs for less. I would rather have the DFI engine and PSE over the .1 X51 personally.

Thanks for all the input folks.
Found the car at a specialist dealer, unfortunately for me, they knew they had a uniquely spec'd example!

While I agree that the soot looks like it could come from the exhaust, I am struggling to see how a leak could make it's way up to the intake manifold?
The alternator belt was another point of suspicion for me too, but it's mounted too far ahead of the manifold to end up depositing all that black directly under the manifold.

Keep the ideas coming guys!

I picked up a very similar car in November of 17. Mine is a Black on black 4S with X51, PCCB's, Sport exhaust, Sport seats, sport chrono package, cherry tail lights, factory fire ext, nav, sunroof, leather dash, suede shifter and ebrake handle, the 19" wheels with 5 mm spacers and pasm suspension.

I have the same soot around the intake manifolds and it drives me nuts. I have been trying to figure out a way to clean it but have not done so.

I have started modding mine and can not stop which I told myself I wouldn't do.

Beautiful are btw Congrats!!!
