Default Exhaust Tips

Hi all,
How do you remove the tips from a 2005 Carrera base model.
I've tried to loosen the nut under the tip but any way I turn it stops as if tightening. I used wd40 on it earlier and the nut still binds up.
I'm working on the floor so my access isn't that good. I had it loose but couldn't get it off the pipe.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mitch just did this to get tips Ceramic coated...here is my process!

Use 13mm socket and remove this bolt completely.

This flange needs to be loosened / widened to get tips off.

I used a small slotted screw driver where the bolt was sitting to widen the flange.

About 1/4 inch should do.

Good Luck

loosen the nut all the way get a flat head and a small hammer.. go around hitting it with hammer till it pops out...

all the years of rust build up make it hard to come out..thats what i did on mines

also, use PB Blaster or even liquid wrench; WD-40 is the least effective penetrant for stuck hardware. Also, let the penetrant soak in good and long before trying to remove the nut.

Hey Mitch, glad you got the tips off! I was going to powder coat mine as well, but the facility suggested ceramic as it is more durable to rock chips! Also better heat capacity but he wasn't sure that would apply so much on the tips. Here is a quick article on the difference. Would love to see a pict when they are all done.
