Confirmation on exactly what I have please!
Hi RL,
Picked up a great 997 at the end of last year, absolutely love it. 06 Carrera 3.6, but with a bunch done to it. Limited info, but it has an intake on it with K&N cone, a tune (no idea), and gundo hack (sounds great), H&R sport springs. 6 speed, black on grey.
Interesting part is it has S brakes, lobsters, alcantara headliner/shift **** and boot/ebrake/wheel with yellow centerline. Also has aero, but nothing like what I've seen others call aero, as it has the gt3 vents in the front and what looks like a GT2 tail.
Limited contact w prev owner (bought through dealer) though told me only things not factory are the intake/tune/hack/springs. Mentioned that it rolled out of Porsche with everything else. Guess it's not a huge surprise considering the way Porsche works, but still curious nonetheless.
Thoughts?

Will snap some. I may have been reading it incorrectly, but using vin decode, it gave very limited info.

Was that one one sold at Porsche Of Tyson's in Va? The Aero is not stock, its aftermarket. You can't get GT2 aero on a base car, or any car...unless its a GT2. Its not the OEM 997S aerokit parts either.

Because it was not built that way from the factory, as the above posts show. Being German, they keep exact records of each and every build, and the VIN tool can bring it up and show exactly what options it was built with. So the previous owners added in the aero something, the S brakes, and the alanactra wheel.

Guess I'm learning by the day, thanks. glad to have all of the parts nonetheless. He stated that they did not make a GT3 in 06, but offered interior options, aero, etc from factory. Oddly enough, I was at a show parked next to a .1 GT3, and they matched up pretty well, except for the tail (his had the sidewalls/curves).
got the car for what I considered to be a bargain, so happy owner here!

The OEM GT3 rear wing and the OEM Aerokit wing, are different and look different. Another owner may have added the GT3 from bumper. An OEM 997 GT3 wing....is damm expensive. In the end, long as it works to add a bit of downforce all is good.

Whoever is telling you those things is either mistaken or dishonest about it but regardless if you like the mods then its a win for you. The VIN shows the car did not come out of the factory with any of those bits. The aero, caliper spacers with rotor upgrade, interior bits are all after market. As long as the fit and finish looks good on everything and as long as you like it thats great. Looks nice in the photos anyways.
BTW, anyone at Sebring this past week? Interesting cars. Saw a "GT3RS" in the corral and then a base cayman with "GTS" badged on the back 'GT4" on the sides. Tribute cars

I do track the car, so do genuinely appreciate the downforce...just wish I knew exactly what it is! Thanks everyone!

Good to know either way, thank you. Quite possible I'd guess due to 3 or 4 owners in the last 12 years that some misinformation was given. Part of the fun is unravelling it I guess. After dealing with several extensively modded M3s, I have to say the fit/finish of everything is spot on...so spot on that I believed him.

Right on. It looks really nice in the photos. I'd be all over that car. The brake upgrade is a common one. Next time you have the wheels off look where the caliper meets the spindle and you will find a metal spacer there (either one long one that connects the mounts or two round ones on each caliper bolt.) They space the caliper out to fit the S model 350mm rotor. You wont need anything different when servicing the car than any other S out there. The pads are the same and the rotors you will use are from any of the 997.1 S cars, just type in 2006 Carrera S and you'll get the right part on places like pelican parts.

What I find really odd is that I'm satisfied w the power coming from a supercharged e92 M3 w 650hp. Just an different overall experience...much more connected, loud in a different way, etc.
