Default ECU Tune options

I didn't find much searching the threads I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death. Would love to know anyone who has done a ECU Tune. Just installed the sharkweks/ gundo and would lastly like to add a tune for a little extra power and smoother delivery. Any help would be great.

I have APR on my 997.1 Carrera S. I have many of the typical mods. I do not believe that it improved anything. I feel as if I wasted money and the shops time installing the tune. I have actually had issues over the past years with it with no help from APR. I spoke with another shop Taggart Cars and they recommend a custom dyno tune or if I didn’t want to go that route that Fabspeed would be a good choice.

What year do you have a MK 1 or 2??? I have tried the softronic on a 09 wasn't impressed. I know GIAC and evoms are the standard. Who has done it to their 997.2? Anyone with a GTS????

Look into COBB tuning too. They just released a tune for the 997.2 a few months ago. I like it because it's easier to reverse and alter for different octanes compared to evoms and others.

If you can try and find where people did controlled before and after acceleration testing on their tune that will give you the best data.

Going from peoples "feel" on a NA tune is unfortunately not going to tell you much about if the tune is actually giving you power since a simple trick on NA tunes that tuners know dont make much power is just to tune in more throttle sensitivity so the car "feels" faster to the client.

If you cant find a single person who did acceleration testing on their NA tune, dont be too shocked.

Next then go to the tuning company and advised them you'll do before and after controlled condition acceleration testing on their tune and if it makes no improvement can you have a money back guarantee. If the tuner takes you up on that, you'll have a good idea that at least they believe their own claims.

I have a 2011 GTS PDK with the Softronic tune. Had it for about two years and I can "feel" the difference. I live where 93 octane is readily available and that is the reason I went with it. No issues with it and my dealer has never mentioned it when I had it in for service.

FWIW: I went with the MyGenius ECU tune (Fabspeed) after the first round of mods (Fabspeed Sport cats/Fabspeed Dual Air Intake). I have not dyno tested but it vastly improved the overall performance, power band and throttle response. 2008 C2S and very pleased.

Hi, the Sharkwerks / Gundo is a great start to open up the exhaust and add some flow/sound. Opening up the intake tract and tuning will surely compliment your current mods and make for some noticeable improvements in power, responsiveness and fun! Feel free to PM me, we can discuss your needs and find a tuning solution that works best for you and your future plans with the car.

Cheers,

David

I agree here, COBB is an excellent tuning option, especially when paired with custom files. We use COBB to flash cars with off the shelf and custom tuning files with great success. Cheers!

+1 on EVOMS . I have 997.2 with SharkWerks/gundo. Installed by James at SharkWerks. Better throttle response, car comes to life at 5;000 rpm. Couldn’t be happier. Also recently installed eibach springs,H&R sways, RSS semi solid engine mounts. Body roll significantly improved.ps add BMC air filters before tune.
